The present invention also relates to tobacco industry products comprising a gel composition, a method of preparing a gel composition comprising a gas, use of a gel composition comprising trapped gas, and a kit for assembling a tobacco industry product comprising a gel composition.

Gel composition and tobacco industry products including the same

The invention relates to an additive releasing material comprising a carrier material having on its surface one or more additives, the additive releasing material having a desorption temperature selected to allow controlled temperature-dependent release of the additive(s). The invention further relates to filters and smoking articles including such additive releasing materials, and to methods for preparing the additive releasing materials.

Additive releasing materials

There is provided a composition for inclusion in a smoking article comprising an ion exchange resin and additive particles comprising an additive on the surface of the ion exchange resin. There is also provided a smoking article filter element comprising this composition, a smoking article comprising this smoking article filter element or this composition. A method of preparing a composition comprising an ion exchange resin and additive particles comprising an additive is also provided, the method comprising the deposition of additive particles onto the ion exchange resin from the solid and/or liquid phase of an aerosol.

Additive carrying composition

There is provided an adsorbent material comprising a porous carrier material having pores with a diameter greater than 20 nm and carrying additive particles on its external surface, wherein the additive particles comprise an additive and have a diameter of greater than 20 nm. There is also provided a smoking article filter element comprising such an adsorbent material, a smoking article comprising such an adsorbent material, and a method of preparing such an adsorbent material.

Adsorbent materials

The invention relates to a smoking article comprising a carbonaceous dried gel (), (such as a xerogel, aerogel or cryogel), a filter () for a smoking article comprising a carbonaceous dried gel and the use of a carbonaceous dried gel for the filtration of smoke.

Smoke filtration

There is provided an electronic vapor provision system comprising: a vaporizer for vaporizing liquid for inhalation by a user of the electronic vapor provision system; a power supply comprising a cell or battery for supplying power to the vaporizer; and a filter for filtering vaporized liquid prior to inhalation by the user of the electronic vapor provision system, wherein the filter can partially or completely remove from the vapor one or more aldehydes present in the vapor.

Embodiments of the invention relate to porous carbon and methods of preparing porous carbon. The monolith is produced forming particles of a partially cured resin into a dough, shaping the dough to produce a monolith, sintering the particles, carbonizing and activating the sintered monolith, and incorporating the monolith into a smoking article filter.

Filter for a smoking article

The invention describes a filter () with a first filter portion () comprising an adsorbent, for example carbon, and/or a catalyst, capable of reducing various vapor phase constituents of cigarette smoke. The adsorbent/catalyst is separated from a second filter portion by means of a barrier () having pores therein of pore size less than 0.1 &#x3bc;m. The invention also describes a smoking article in which a rod of smoking material, with or without encapsulated flavor, is attached to the above described filter.

Relating to smoking article filters

A smoking article such as a cigarette, or a smoke filter or other component thereof, comprises a catalyst for the oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The catalyst comprises gold, and an oxide of zinc or titanium. Titania and mixed oxides of zinc and copper or aluminum are preferred (TiO, ZnO, ZnAlOor CuZnO). The gold preferably comprises species in the metallic state)(Au), together with species in an oxidized state (Au).
