Trays having increased capacity and efficiency are described. The trays have a deck, and downcomers extending through the deck. There are a plurality of bubble promoters on the deck. Each bubble promoter defines a zone on the deck, and the zone has an opening in the deck. The opening is positioned adjacent to a solid support for the tray. The bubble promoters provide areas through which vapor can pass, turning blocked areas of the tray into active areas. Mass transfer columns containing the trays are also described.

An assembly for supporting a member in a vessel comprises a clip comprising an arm with a first end attached to a panel and a second end opposed to the panel. The panel is secured in the vessel. The assembly also comprises a plate slidably disposed between the second end of the arm and the panel. The subject matter also pertains to the clip itself and the method of use.

A clip assembly for holding down a member in a vessel comprising a clip comprising a first panel comprising a tab extending from the first panel and a protrusion extending from the first panel, and a second panel integral with and normal to the first panel for engaging the member. A wall in the vessel comprises a cut-out adapted to receive the tab and a recess disposed laterally to the cut-out and adapted to receive the protrusion upon inserting the tab into the cut-out and sliding the tab in the cut-out laterally with respect to the recess.
