Including a disk, a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart airfoils extending radially outwardly from the disk, a plurality of shroud segments being disposed circumferentially between the plurality of airfoils and configured to attach to a corresponding airfoil of the plurality of airfoils and a plurality of wear surfaces, where at least one wear surface of the plurality of wear surfaces is configured and disposed to prevent excessive wear between the adjacent shroud segments. Each shroud segment of the plurality of shroud segments may be attached to a corresponding airfoil by weld connections to permit clearance during translation friction welding of the airfoil to the disk hub are located to avoid high stress areas.

A candidate selection system that generates data-driven candidate selections of large populations of submitted r&#xe9;sum&#xe9;s using common independent assessment variables and against desired qualities is described. A processor executing the candidate selection program is pre-programmed to include a listing of desired qualities that the ideal candidate for the position should possess. Each submitted r&#xe9;sum&#xe9; is reviewed and data input from the r&#xe9;sum&#xe9;s is normalized to produce values representing weighted scores unique to the specific candidate and in terms of the sought-after desired dependant qualities.

Methods and apparatus for selecting candidates to interview

A turbine nozzle includes a circumferentially continuous annular outer band, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart vanes extending radially inwardly therefrom. A circumferentially segmented inner band is joined to the vanes and is disposed coaxially with the outer band. The inner band includes a plurality of circumferentially adjoining arcuate segments, adjacent ones of which have circumferentially facing end faces spaced apart to define a gap therebetween. In an exemplary embodiment, strip seals are inserted in corresponding slots formed in the end faces to seal leakage therebetween.

Low leakage turbine nozzle

A turbine rotor assembly includes a rotor disk, rotor blades joined thereto, and a blade retention plate for axially retaining the blades on the disk. The disk includes an outer rim, an inner hub, and an annular web extending therebetween. An axial extension extends from the web and is spaced radially below a corner of the rim. The blades have dovetails axially disposed in respective dovetail slots in the disk rim. The retention plate includes an outer rim which abuts the disk rim and blade dovetails, an inner hub, and a web extending therebetween. The plate hub has an outer rabbet disposed in abutting contact with the rim corner, and an inner rabbet radially adjoining the axial extension for maintaining abutting contact therewith upon differential radial contraction between the retention plate and the disk which separates the outer rabbet from the rim corner. In one embodiment, the assembly further includes a locking ring disposed between the retention plate and the axial extension for axially trapping the plate adjacent to the disk rim.

Double rabbet rotor blade retention assembly

A shroud support for a gas turbine engine includes a mounting flange mountable to a casing, a hanger for supporting a turbine shroud, and an annular coupling joining the mounting flange to the hanger. The coupling includes a set of circumferentially spaced apertures defining a set of beams therebetween, with the beams being sized and configured for attenuating radial distortion from the mounting flange transmitted to the hanger. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the coupling includes a frustum which includes the apertures and beams.

Attenuating shroud support

A shroud support includes an annular casing and an annular hanger spaced radially inwardly therefrom. The hanger includes a circumferentially extending flow duct therein and a base for radially supporting a shroud positionable radially over a plurality of circumferentially spaced turbine blades. The hanger is cooled by channeling a cooling fluid circumferentially inside the hanger flow duct for providing more uniform circumferential blade tip clearance and for better matching the thermal movement between the shroud and blade tips.
