Methods of controlling transport climate control systems are provided to reduce the impact of their operation on the sleep of an occupant, who can be in a nearby sleeping space. Methods include obtaining occupant sleep status data, determining one or more operational parameters of the transport climate control system based on the occupant sleep status data, and operating the transport climate control system according to the one or more operational parameters to control when at least one of a motor, a compressor, a generator, or one or more fans are in operation during an occupant sleep state. The methods can be implemented by a controller of a transport climate control system or a control module for such a system.

Evaporator unit

A configurable evaporator unit for a secondary heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system that provides conditioned air within a cabin portion of a vehicle is provided. The configurable evaporator unit includes an evaporator unit and a blower assembly disposed within a housing. The blower assembly houses an evaporator blower for directing conditioned air out of the configurable evaporator unit. The blower assembly includes a plurality of blower openings for directing conditioned air out of the blower assembly. The housing includes a plurality of housing openings. One or more of the plurality of housing openings is prevented from directing conditioned air out of the configurable evaporator unit.

A method of controlling an auxiliary power unit of a vehicle. The auxiliary power unit is in communication with an air conditioning system of the vehicle and includes an engine and an alternator coupled to the engine. The method includes determining a state of a compressor of the air conditioning system, the compressor including an off state and an on state, reducing an alternator load relative to the engine in response to the compressor being varied from the off state to the on state, increasing the alternator load relative to the engine after a predetermined time interval, and simultaneously operating the alternator up to an alternator load capacity and the compressor up to a compressor load capacity.
