The invention provides a method for fastening a polymeric label to a glass, plastic or metal container or surface by means of a water based adhesive composition by the following steps:

A multilayer resealable container and closure seal for a container comprising a base layer and a face layer adhered together by an adhesive means, wherein said base layer of the seal is adherable to a container to be sealed by folding said closure seal over the opening of a container with greater adhesion of the base layer to the container to be sealed than adhesion of the face label to the base label so the face layer can be removed from the base layer with the base layer remaining adhered to the container and said closure is resealable by folding said face layer over said base layer.

Resealable container and closure seal

A direct image-recording material has a layer of a thermosensitive layer formed on a thin substrate. The substrate comprises an organic polymeric material that is substantially transparent and colorless and has a thickness no greater than about 10 .mu.m. Preferred embodiments of the invention further include a support sheet with an interposed first adhesive layer on the thermosensitive composition layer. Other preferred embodiments further include a second adhesive layer and a backing sheet, which may be releasable, on the support sheet.

Thermosensitive direct image-recording material

Polymeric sheets or rolls suitable for printing and forming at high rates of production of blown or injection in-mold labeled plastic containers are based on a polymeric transparent, translucent or contact clear substrate having a thickness in the range of 0.002 to 0.008 inches which is reverse printed and overcoated on the container-facing side with a heat activatable adhesive and coated or extruded on the opposite side with an antistatic and/or slip coating. Optionally, such sheet or roll can be printed and then cut into individual labels for affixing to the container as part of a in-molding process. Recyclable containers are provided at high speed without missing labels or doubled labels due to feeding problems. The labels are firmly adherent, and squeeze-release resistant and the indicia, because they are viewable through the labels themselves, are protected against spillage and abrasion.

Process for the production of printed in-mold labeled molded containers

Polymeric sheets or rolls suitable for in-line gravure printing and forming at high rates of production of in-mold labeled plastic containers comprise a polymeric transparent, translucent or contact clear substrate having a thickness in the range of 0.002 to 0.008 inches which is reverse gravure-printed and gravure overcoated on the container-facing side with a heat activatable adhesive and gravure coated on the opposite side with an antistatic coating. Such a sheet or roll can be printed and then cut into individual labels for affixing to the container as part of a unified in-molding process, without the need to manually stack and jog the sheets and labels into graphic registration. Recyclable containers are provided at high speed without missing labels or doubled labels due to feeding problems. The labels are firmly adherent, squeeze-release resistant labels and the indicia, because they are viewable through the labels themselves, are protected against spillage and abrasion.

Process for the production of in-line gravure-printed in-mold labeled

Composite pressure sensitive label sheets will print in hot laser printers without curling if they comprise at least three layers: A. at least one base layer having a pressure sensitive adhesive on the bottom face, B. a printable surface layer on top of the base layer or layers, and C. a strippable protective backing on the pressure sensitive adhesive coated bottom face on the base layer or layers and if the thermal expansion or contraction characteristics of the printable layer B and the protective backing C are the same or substantially the same.
