An improved nozzle for use with a fire hose having an infra-red temperature sensor that is aligned with an output of the nozzle. The sensor will detect the infrared energy produced by a fire hot spot and provide a visual indication of the energy on a display. The temperature sensor operates a thermometer and is placed in the center of the discharge nozzle allowing water to pass around the sensor. A laser is positioned next to the sensor on the outlet of the nozzle to project a high intensity visible light toward the area that the IR sensor is directed.

The present invention is a fire suppression apparatus for mitigating a battery fire and the effects of a thermal event within a battery pack. The system comprises a fire suppressant apparatus that is incorporated into the storage modules of the lithium ion batteries. Each storage module includes a container filled with a fire suppressant that is pressurized with a compressed gas.

The instant invention relates to an apparatus and method for enhancing the fire extinguishing properties of water for use with fire fighting aircraft. The apparatus and method includes the steps of, and equipment for, transferring media into a holding tank in aircraft; filling a reservoir hopper with water in the aircraft; calculating the amount of media to be added to the reservoir; drawing the calculated amount of media into the reservoir to form an enhanced fire fighting admixture while the aircraft is in flight, wherein the admixture is offloaded by a controlled discharge for use in fighting forest fires.

A cellular phone case in combination with a flexible packet holding an admixture of water and super absorbent material to provide heat dissipation, heat indication, and fire extinguishment properties. The cellular phone case has a translucent rear surface and the packet fits inside the case between the bottom surface of the case and the underside of a cellular phone. The packet dissipates heat during a recharging condition, and provides a fire retardant agent to arrest a lithium battery meltdown.

Disclosed is an assembly for discharging hydrated super absorbent polymer into a confined space for protection of a lineman or firefighter from a flash fire and fire suppression. A pressurized tank is filled with hydrated super absorbent polymer and connected to a conduit that is constructed and arranged to interchange various nozzles for personnel protection and fire suppression. The hydrated super absorbent polymer is discharged through a solenoid valve which can be operated by the individual operating within the space with a switch, an individual operating the control panel mounted in a utility truck or activated by a heat sensor in the confined space.

A method and device for suppressing an electrical fire within an electrical wire carrying conduit. The device is a flexible receptacle containing an admixture of super absorbent polymer and water having substantially superior fire suppression and extinguishing properties that does not provide an electrically conductive environment. The receptacle is drawn though a conduit either before or after wires have been placed in the conduit, and the filled with the admixture. A sleeve may be placed over the receptacle to prevent breaching of the receptacle during installation. Once the receptacle and admixture is positioned within the conduit, should arcing or a buildup of heat occur, the receptacle will rupture and the admixture will cover the specific area. These particular properties and ratios of the admixture will enable electrical fires to be extinguished more rapidly and not flare back up. The admixture further encapsulates noxious and toxic gases associated with electrical fires.

Method and device for suppressing electrical fires in underground conduit

Disclosed is a cellular telephone recharging device which operates as a support bed for a cellular telephone during the recharging stage. The device includes a first pocket for retaining a fire extinguishing packet of super absorbent polymer capable of extinguishing a lithium battery fire. A second pocket is formed within the device for positioning of the cellular telephone over the fire extinguishing packet. Use of the device reduces or eliminates thermal meltdowns by positioning the fire suppressant directly adjacent to the most likely area for the thermal meltdown.

A safety ladder for protecting a lineman or firefighter from a flash fire. The ladder has the appearance of a conventional ladder but include fluid conduits that allow for dispensing of a fire suppressants to be sprayed over an individual using the ladder should a fire erupt. The rungs of the ladder have spray nozzles located along the bottom of the rung so that they do not interfere with normal use of the ladder. A pressurized container of fire suppressants is coupled to the ladder, through a battery powered solenoid valve. The solenoid valve can be operated by the individual using the ladder by use of a triggering device, or remotely by an individual positioned apart from the ladder by a remote triggering device. The triggering device can be operated electrically or by radio frequency, can be temperature sensitive, or can be manually bypassed.

A system for suppressing a wind turbine fire using an admixture of hydrated super absorbent polymer having properties for suppressing and extinguishing of a fire. The admixture is non conductive and, upon drying, leaves a non-conductive residual that can be vacuumed from the wind turbine components to allow salvaging of the wind turbine components. The admixture is maintained within a pressurized storage vessel having a solenoid that is released by temperature sensor applying the admixture through strategically positioned nozzles to the control cabinets, generator, gearbox and bearings for extinguishment of any associated fire. Since the admixture of super absorbent polymer and water entraps the particulates and noxious and/or toxic gasses, the clean-up is substantially easier and quicker than the clean up from other methods of fire suppression and extinguishing.
