A compound is described as having a triplet excited state and a singlet excited state; wherein the triplet excited state comprises a lowest energy triplet sublevel, a middle energy triplet sublevel, and a highest energy triplet sublevel; and wherein an energy separation between the highest energy triplet sublevel and the lowest energy triplet sublevel (ZFS) is greater than an energy separation between the singlet excited state and a the lowest energy triplet sublevel. Also described is a compound represented by the following Formula I. These compounds should find application as luminescent materials in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Fast phosphors utilizing HP2H ligands

Compounds comprising a first ligand and a second ligand; wherein the first ligand coordinates to a first metal through a first metal-carbene bond; the second ligand coordinates to a second metal through a second metal-carbene bond; the second ligand also coordinates to the first metal; the first ligand can link to the second ligand to form a multidentate ligand; and the first metal and the second metal are each independently selected from the group consisting of Au, Ag, and Cu can act as electron acceptors in tandem to increase the energy separation between the ground and excited state, which is higher than those found in analogous monometallic complexes. These compounds should find application as luminescent materials in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Disclosed herein are organic photosensitive optoelectronic devices comprising acceptor and/or donor sensitizers to increase absorption and photoresponse of the photoactive layers of the devices. In particular, devices herein include at least one acceptor layer and at least one donor layer, wherein the acceptor layer may comprise a mixture of an acceptor material and at least one sensitizer, and the donor layer may comprise a mixture of a donor material and at least one sensitizer. Carbene metal complexes as OLED materials

Imidazophenanthridine ligands and metal complexes are provided. The compounds exhibit improved stability through a linking substitution that links a nitrogen bonded carbon of an imidizole ring to a carbon on the adjacent fused aryl ring. The compounds may be used in OLEDs, particularly as emissive dopants in the emissive region in the OLEDs, providing devices with improved efficiency, stability, and manufacturing. In particular, the compounds provided herein may be used in blue devices having high efficiency.

The invention provides emissive materials and organic light emitting devices using the emissive materials in an emissive layer disposed between and electrically connected to an anode and a cathode. The emissive materials include compounds with the following structure: wherein at least one of Rto Ris phenyl or substituted phenyl, and/or at least two of Rto Rthat are adjacent are part of a fluorenyl group. The emissive materials have enhanced electroluminescent efficiency and improved lifetime when incorporated into light emitting devices.

Organic light emitting devices are described wherein the emissive layer comprises a host material containing an emissive molecule, which molecule is adapted to luminesce when a voltage is applied across the heterostructure, and the emissive molecule is selected from the group of phosphorescent organometallic complexes, including cyclometallated platinum, iridium and osmium complexes. The organic light emitting devices optionally contain an exciton blocking layer. Furthermore, improved electroluminescent efficiency in organic light emitting devices is obtained with an emitter layer comprising organometallic complexes of transition metals of formula LMX, wherein L and X are distinct bidentate ligands. Compounds of this formula can be synthesized more facilely than in previous approaches and synthetic options allow insertion of fluorescent molecules into a phosphorescent complex, ligands to fine tune the color of emission, and ligands to trap carriers.
