A device for aftertreatment of exhaust gases from an engine, with a honeycomb body through which a flow passes along a main flow direction, a ceramic mat, and a first casing that receives the honeycomb body. The ceramic mat is arranged between the honeycomb body and the casing and surrounds the honeycomb body as a ring in peripheral direction. The ceramic mat is configured such that the cavity formed between the honeycomb body and the first casing is filled by the ceramic mat. A method for manufacturing the device, wherein the honeycomb body is received in a second casing and the honeycomb body received in the second casing is surrounded by the ceramic mat as a ring in the peripheral direction. The second casing has, at the end region facing the gas inlet side, a portion having a structure different than the remaining structure of the second casing.

Exhaust gas aftertreatment device having small cavities

A catalytic converter for aftertreatment of combustion gases from an internal combustion engine, having at least one catalyst and at least one electrically heatable heating disk. The catalyst and the heating disk are each formed by a honeycomb having a multitude of flow channels through which flow is possible in a main flow direction. The mechanical connection between the catalyst and the heating disk is formed by at least one support pin (having an inner core. The support pin has a thickening in each of the two end regions and, the core is formed by a ceramic material and the thickening is formed by a ceramic-metal mixture.

An electrically heatable catalytic converter with a metal honeycomb body, the honeycomb body being formed by a plurality of wound metal foils and the honeycomb body being received in a casing tube, a device for electrically contacting at least individual foils being led into the casing tube through an opening in the casing tube, the device being formed by an electrode which is electrically insulated from the inside of the casing tube by a connecting layer and mechanically connected to the casing tube.

An annular catalytic converter, having a first, tubular flow path, having a diverting region and having a second, annular flow path, wherein the tubular flow path is formed by an inner pipe, wherein the annular flow path is formed between the inner pipe and an outer pipe surrounding the inner pipe, and the diverting region is of pot-shaped form for the purposes of diverting the exhaust-gas flow from the tubular flow path into the annular flow path, wherein the inner pipe and/or the outer pipe has a conical cross section that widens or narrows along the flow direction of the exhaust gas.

A device for aftertreatment of exhaust gases, having a flow section which is able to be flowed through by exhaust gas and has at least one honeycomb body, acting as a catalytic converter, and has at least one heating element. A honeycomb body for exhaust gas aftertreatment includes a plurality of interconnected metal foils stacked on one another. The honeycomb body has a central first flow channel running in the axial direction of the honeycomb body, as an inflow section, and has a plurality of second flow channels between in each case two mutually adjacent metal foils. The first flow channel is in fluid communication with the second flow channels. A device for treating exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine includes: a heating disk arranged in a housing; and a main catalytic converter arranged downstream of the heating disk in the flow direction in the housing. The flow can pass through the heating disk and the main catalytic converter in the flow direction along a plurality of flow channels. The heating disk is formed from a metallic honeycomb body and the main catalytic converter is formed from a ceramic honeycomb body fixed in relation to the housing by a fixing structure. The heating disk is electrically contacted by an electrical feedthrough guided through the housing from the outside to the inside.

A device for treating exhaust gases which is designed for electrically contacting a plurality of conductor tracks, which are arranged within an interior space that is surrounded by an outer wall of the device, through the outer wall. One or more electrodes which may be electrically contacted through the outer wall are arranged in the interior space, each of which electrodes electrically contacts two or more of the conductor tracks in the interior space.
