A road marker and method of manufacturing a road marker having a base with a large surface area. The base is molded around a potted road reflector to completely seal the bottom and encapsulate the ends of the reflective member. The reflective member has end extensions with notches formed to interlock with the base member.

A low profile snowplowable road marker and method of installation is disclosed. The snowplowable road marker has a circular dome section having a pair of deflectors which wrap/encircle a signalling device along a circumferential edge of the marker. The deflectors are separated by a gap to permit drainage. The deflectors have wedge shaped ends to lift the snowplow over the signalling device. The circumferential edge is radiused and mounted in a bore as to be below the level of the road surface.

Snowplowable road marker

A low profile pavement marker having a glass bead type reflector and an inclined top surface is disclosed. Flanges extend from a peripheral surface on the face and from the rear of the reflector for engagement with epoxy for mounting the pavement marker to the road surface. The front face is angled to permit wiping of the glass beads of the reflector. The shell of the pavement marker may be trimmed to be combined with other shells or other reflectors.

A low profile snowplowable road marker and method of installation is disclosed. The snowplowable road marker has a circular top section with opposed dished surfaces extending from a peripheral edge. The peripheral edge is mounted in an outer bore below the level of the road surface. A bridge portion extends between a pair of channels. The bridge portion has at least one inclined wall having a recess for accepting a signalling device. A brow extends outwardly from the inclined wall over the recess to reduce contact between the tire of a vehicle passing over the road marker and the signalling device.

An apparatus for molding a cap (16) including a base portion (18) and peripheral skirt (20) extending axially from and about the base portion (18) includes an outer surface forming mold (44) for forming an outer surface of the base portion (18) and the peripheral skirt (20) and an inner surface forming mold (46) seatable within the outer surface forming mold (44) for forming an inner surface of the base portion (18) and the peripheral skirt (20). The outer surface forming mold (44) is retractable from seated engagement with inner surface forming mold (46) for exposing the moded cap (16) therebetween. The inner surface forming mold (46) includes a core portion (52) and lug forming mold portions (54) disposed radially peripherally thereabout, the lug forming mold portions (54) being able to project axially from and retract radially inwardly relative to the central core portions (52) for releasing and ejecting the molded cap (16)from the inner surface forming mold ( 46).

Snowplowable guard member for pavement markers

A pavement marker for a roadway surface includes a lower base portion and a retro-reflective lens mounted on the base portion at an angle to it. A photopolymerizable clear acrylic protective hard coat is deposited over and integrally formed with the front face of the lens for resisting abrasion of the lens and reducing the loss of optical efficiency resulting from such abrasion. The pavement marker also includes a frame of generally arcuate cross-section formed about an edge of the hard coat potentially susceptible to peeling from impact of vehicle tires against the hard coat. The frame is preferably formed as a bead raised from the face of the marker, and the bead includes a sharp interior edge lying generally perpendicular to the lens, adjacent the edge of the hard coat.

Abrasion resistant coating for pavement marker

A reflective pavement marker of the type having a shell-like housing of synthetic resin or other moldable material with a reflective end wall of light transmitting material with a filler of epoxy or other potting material. The reflective end wall is formed with retro-directive reflective elements of cube corner type. The end wall is dished so that light rays reflect from the array of cube corner reflective elements and converge to enhance the candle power of the reflective light. Also disclosed is a method and apparatus for making the device.

An apparatus for molding a cap (16) including a base portion (18) and peripheral skirt (20) extending axially from and about the base portion (18) includes an outer surface forming mold (44) for forming an outer surface of the base portion (18) and the peripheral skirt (20) and an inner surface forming mold (46) seatable within the outer surface forming mold (44) for forming an inner surface of the base portion (18) and the peripheral skirt (20). The outer surface forming mold (44) is retractable from seated engagement with inner surface forming mold (46) for exposing the molded cap (16) therebetween. The inner surface forming mold (46) includes a core portion (52) and lug forming mold portions (54) disposed radially peripherally thereabout, the lug forming mold portions (54) being able to project axially from and retract radially inwardly relative to the central core portions (52) for releasing and ejecting the molded cap (16) from the inner surface forming mold (46).

A reflective pavement marker of the type having a shell-like housing of synthetic resin or other moldable material with reflective end walls of light transmitting material and a filler of epoxy or other potting material. Ribbing is formed on the inner surface of the housing. The ribbing has a surface that makes an acute angle with respect to the inner surface of the housing to coact with the filler material to increase the resistance to separation of the filler material from the housing.

A roadway pavement marker protective member defined by a single rail for the protection of pavement markers. A pavement marker is placed on the roadway surface and one or two of these rails are placed about the pavement marker for its protection. The protective member deflects potential hazards presented by oncoming traffic, such as snowplow machines, from the pavement marker and prevents it from being dislodged.

A safety closure and container assembly including a container and a closure comprising outer and inner caps which may be attached to the container by conventional capping machines. In first, second, third and fourth embodiments of the invention, the inner cap is formed with a circular dome-shaped top panel with a skirt portion projecting axially therefrom. The projecting skirt portion is threaded on its interior surface for engagement with a conventionally threaded container finish. A plurality of upwardly extending and spaced apart drive members are integrally molded with the periphery of the top panel. A plurality of ramped ratchet lugs also extend upwardly from the upper surface of the top panel. The outer cap has a circular end wall with an axially projecting second skirt portion.

Child-resistant closure and container assembly including improved outer

A safety closure and container assembly including a container, cap and combined spring and sealing member. Retention nibs are formed on the inner surface of the skirt of the cap, and a spring and sealing member has a radially projecting flange that engages the retention nibs to prevent separation of the spring and sealing member from the cap. Cap and container locking elements are formed respectively on the inner surface of the skirt of the cap and the outer surface of the mouth of the container. The cap and container locking elements are engageable with and disengageable from each other by combined axial and rotary motion of the cap relative to the container. The spring and sealing member biases the cap and container locking elements toward locked engagement with each other when the cap is applied to the container. The cap and container locking elements are formed such that the sealing portion of the spring and sealing member is forced into the mouth of the container into sealing engagement therewith as the cap is rotated relative to the container so that the operator does not have to apply direct axial force to the cap in order to seal the container.
