A carrier is adapted for use in a shaving device and includes at least one pair () of a cutting element () and a hair lifting element (). At least one of the elements () of the pair () has a bent shape, wherein the bent element () is provided with at least two bending lines (). The bent shape of the at least one of the elements () is such that in a functional arrangement of the elements () with respect to each other, edge portions () of the elements () are located at a distance with respect to each other. Thus, a space () is present between the elements () at the side of their edge portions (), which can be used for receiving cut-off hair stubbles which might otherwise hinder a movement of the hair lifting element ().

A device for shaving hairs growing from skin including a base portion having a grip, a shaving head which carries at least one cutting member having at least one cutting edge, and an actuator for effecting a periodical motion of the cutting member relative to the base portion to improve the cutting action of the cutting member. The shaving head is pivotable relative to the base portion about a pivot axis and the periodical motion of the cutting member is a periodical motion relative to the shaving head. The position and orientation of the geometrical path of the periodical motion of the cutting member relative to the skin is well-defined, so that the risk of skin irritations and skin injuries is considerably reduced.

The invention relates to a device () for shaving hair () and to a device having a shaving head (). The shaving head () has at least one cutting member () having a cutting edge () and a cutting direction (X), and the device has an actuator () for effecting a periodical motion of the cutting member relative to a base portion () of the device. According to the invention the periodical motion is effected in an imaginary plane which extends transversely to the cutting edge () and which has a first motion portion () and a second motion portion () following the first motion portion. The first motion portion is mainly directed in the cutting direction (X), and the second motion portion is mainly directed opposite to the cutting direction and is closer to the skin () than the first motion portion.
