A method for providing on-line event photographs includes the steps of capturing multiple photographs during an event, and associating identifying data with each photograph taken. A database is accessed to search for the photograph utilizing the identifying data. A photograph is selected for ordering at a reduced price or for free. A field is created in the digital photograph, such as in a corner or a margin thereof, and visual advertisement indicia are associated with the field. An electronic link may also be associated with the field for connecting the user to an advertiser's electronic document or web-site. The photograph, containing the visual field, is electronically transferred to the user's electronic device or otherwise sent to the user.

Advertising and distribution method for event photographs

A process for providing event photographs for inspection, selection and distribution via a computer network generally includes the steps of taking event photographs, associating identifying data with each photograph taken, transferring the photographs to a computer network server, and permitting access to the server for searching of a particular photograph utilizing the identifying data. The identifying data can include a name of an event participant, a number corresponding to a number worn by the event participant, the date and time the photograph was taken, or a code captured from a component as it passes a sensor. Such a component can be passive or active and can include a bar code, inductive device or an electronic transmitting device which is worn by the event participant. The event participants are informed of the identifying data by posting the identifying data associated with each photograph so that it is made available to the participants of the event for later use in searching the server. The photographs are cataloged in the server according to the identifying data and can be subsequently ordered using the server which is typically an Internet web-site.

Process for providing event photographs for inspection, selection and distribution via a computer network

A trigger system including a photosensor having a polarizing light filter n positioned in a light receiving end of a housing. A lens is disposed in the housing for focusing light onto a transducer. A switch is electronically coupled to the transducer for selecting either a passive or active mode. In the active mode, a light source is directed at the photosensor, whereby a trigger signal is generated when an object disrupts the received light. In the passive mode, an opaque screen is spaced from the photosensor and a source of light is directed at the opaque screen, whereby a trigger signal is generated from the light reflected from an object positioned between the screen and photosensor. The trigger system may be electronically linked to a photographic system for high speed or action photography.

Photo-voltaic trigger system

A system for printing dot-matrix characters wherein a double column of dot forming elements is used, and no single dot forming element is required to print more often than once in any four column interval of printed text. Means for timing the actuation of the dot forming elements wherein the 'on' time of the individual actuators can be longer than the time interval between columns is included.

Control system for matrix print head

An actuator assembly for a dot matrix printer of the stored energy type in which a plurality of flexible spring hammer elements are mounted in an interleaved arrangement in order to provide a compact structure. The actuator assembly includes a mounting block having upper and lower magnetic circuits and spring hammers attached to it. A portion of the magnetic circuits is coupled to the rear of the mounting block in order to facilitate heat dissipation from the actuator. The pole pieces of the magnetic circuits are positioned to reduce resonance of the spring hammers to thereby decrease cycling time. Permanent magnets utilized in the assembly are arranged in a non-symmetrical fashion in order to increase the magnetic efficiency of the device. Integrally connected pole pieces and permanent magnets are used in the assembly to reduce manufacturing costs without degrading performance.

Dot matrix print actuator

The impact pins of a matrix printhead are brazed by a laser to a print hammer of the flat spring type. The print hammers are then attached to a printhead mounting block adjacent to each other with the impact pins in substantially a straight line. The attached print hammers are then shaped by an electric discharge machining (EDM) process by a single electrode to simultaneously machine the impact pins to the desired shape and to position the tips of the impact pins at a precise distance with respect to one another.

Print hammer assembly method

An improved impulse jet head structure utilizing etched silicon as the body of the structure. A silicon substrate is etched so as to form a nozzle groove, cavity, and ink supply groove. A layer of glass or other material is bonded to the top of the substrate so as to enclose the cavity and define, along with the grooves, and ink supply conduit and a nozzle conduit. A second layer of glass or other material is bonded to the bottom of the substrate and comprises the bottom surface of the cavity. A piezoelectric crystal driver is bonded to the bottom layer in a position corresponding to the location of the reservoir. An ink supply tube is bonded to the upper layer in a location above the supply groove and delivers ink to the head structure. The etching process may be utilized to form either single or multiple orifice head structures.

Impulse jet head using etched silicon

An improved ink jet print head structure. The print head includes a cylindrical glass rod having a bore extending along the axis of the rod. A surface is ground on the rod parallel to and near the bore. A metal organic paste is fired on the surface and a piezoelectric driver plate is soldered to the paste. A silicon nozzle plate is bonded to the front of the rod by means of an anodic bonding technique. The head structure may be attached to a charging electrode by means of an insulating support member, resulting in a prealigned and easily replaceable unit. Several alternative embodiments of the head structure and means for attaching the structure to an input line are disclosed.

Ink jet head structure

A stylus wire for use in a matrix printhead includes a thin elongated wire with an integral sphere-like head formed at one end. Also disclosed is a method of forming the sphere-like head using a laser or other device to apply high localized heat to the wire end sufficient to form said sphere-like head.

Integral beaded stylus wire and method of making same

A printing head for forming dot matrix characters which includes a wire stylus assembly having a plurality of guide bearings spaced to reduce the wear of the tip bearing, and to minimize buckling and resonances. Each stylus is driven by an electromagnetic actuator having a hinged armature, with the stylus drive point at the center of percussion of the armature with respect to the hinge line. Damping is effected at the same point. The armatures are shaped to drive the styli directly in line with the stylus wires without introducing a moment. Individual adjustments for magnetic gap are provided. A retainer device for holding all of the armatures in place during assembly is also provided.
