A clear thermoplastic blend comprises from about 25 to about 90 percent by weight of low flow polycarbonate resin having a MVR (Melt Viscosity Rate) of from about 1 to about 7 cc/10 min at 300&#xb0; C./1.2 kg and from about 10 to about 75 percent by weight of a polyester resin derived from the condensation of a cyclohexanedimethanol or equivalent thereof alone or with an ethylene glycol or equivalent thereof with a terephthalic acid or equivalents thereof or a combination of terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid or equivalents thereof.

Polycarbonate polyester molding composition

A weatherable composition comprising an upper layer that comprises a polymer system consisting essentially of a cycloaliphatic polyester resin, and an additive composition comprising an hindered amine light stabilizer and a low volatility, hydroxyphenyl triazine or pyrimidine UV absorber; an intermediate layer that comprises a polymer system consisting essentially of a cycloaliphatic polyester, and optionally, an additive composition comprising TiO, dyes, pigments, and special effects additives; and a polymeric substrate, wherein the intermediate layer is disposed between and in intimate contact with the upper layer and the substrate. The composition finds utility in articles such as automotive parts.

Multilayer, weatherable compositions and method of manufacture thereof

A stabilized thermoplastic resin composition is disclosed which comprises structural units derived at least one substituted or unsubstituted polycarbonate, at least one substituted or unsubstituted polyester and a combination of at least two quenchers, wherein said quencher is selected from a group consisting of phosphorus compound, carboxylic acid, derivates of carboxylic acids, epoxy functional polymers and boron compound. Also disclosed is a stabilized thermoplastic resin composition comprising: structural units derived at least one substituted or unsubstituted polycarbonate, at least one substituted or unsubstituted polyester, an epoxy functional polymers and a combination of at least one quenchers, wherein said quencher is selected from a group consisting of phosphorus compounds, carboxylic acid compounds, polyols, and boron compounds. In addition the composition disclosed possess good optical properties, thermal properties and stability.

A thermoplastic blend suitable for blow molding comprising a branched polycarbonate and a polyester resin derived from the condensation of a) a cyclohexanedimethanol or equivalent thereof alone or with an ethylene glycol or equivalent thereof, b) together with a terephthalic acid or equivalents thereof alone or with an isophthalic acid or equivalent thereof.

Multi-layer, weatherable compositions and method of manufacture thereof

A clear blend of three resin components includes a first polycarbonate resin component; a second resin component of a first polyester copolymer resin derived from a cycloaliphatic diol and a cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and a third resin component of a second polyester polymer resin derived from the condensation of a cyclohexane diol with a terephthalic acid and an additional condensation reaction component selected from aliphatic or aromatic diacids or diols suitable for enhancing the clarity of said blend wherein the three component blend has a light transmission of seventy percent or greater and an elongation at break after exposure to Fuel C of forty percent or greater.

An clear coated article formed from a transparent/translucent molding composition comprising a uniform miscible resin blend of a polycarbonate resin and a cycloaliphatic polyester resin, said cycloaliphatic polyester resin comprising the reaction product of an aliphatic C-Cdiol or chemical equivalent and a C-Caliphatic diacid or chemical equivalent, said cycloaliphatic polyester resin contains at least about 80% by weight of a cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid, or chemical equivalent, and/or of a cycloaliphatic diol or chemical equivalent, wherein the cycloaliphatic polyester resin and the polycarbonate resin have a viscosity selected for enhancing the adhesion of the clear coat to the article.

Disclosed herein is a UV stabilized composition, comprising a polyester resin and a polycarbonate resin; an impact modifier; and an additive composition comprising a hindered amine light stabilizer and another UV absorber. Such compositions find utility in the manufacture of automobile components, for example.
