A housing for a laboratory appliance with a floor, ceiling, rear wall, side walls and front wall, which together enclose a work space. The front wall is movable between closed position and open positions. A work area in which liquids can be handled is provided in the work space. A filter device for ambient air is connected to the work space via at least one air outlet. At least one air inlet is connected to the environment, and a fan and an air filter are located downstream from the air inlet and upstream from the air outlet. An outflow opening is also located on the housing. The at least one air outlet and the at least one outflow opening are arranged on the housing such that, during operation of the filter device, the filter air stream flows substantially parallel to and along the work area.

Housing for a laboratory appliance

A bottle top dispenser for handling liquids having a piston-cylinder arrangement in an outside housing. At least one actuating button () that can be pressed downwards is arranged on the upper side of the outside housing. The outside housing () can be provided with ventilation openings () that can be hidden beneath the actuating button (). The bottle arrangement is also characterized by a specific arrangement of a sensor system () in relation to a measuring strip () on a piston rod (). The path measuring signal can be evaluated by means of a magnetoresistive sensor system, especially such a system based on the AMR effect. The arrangement of the measuring strip () in relation to the longitudinal central axis of the piston rod () is of considerable importance.

Bottle top dispenser for handling liquids

The invention relates to a dosing device for liquids, with a replaceable distributor rail () and a plurality of dosing units () that are hydraulically connected to the distributor rail (), wherein each dosing unit () has a valve unit (), preferably provided with a suction valve, a discharge valve and a discharge cannula (), and, detachably arranged on the valve unit (), a piston-cylinder unit () for drawing in and measured discharging of the liquid, wherein each valve unit () has a hydraulic connection element for detachable hydraulic connection to the distributor rail (), wherein the distributor rail () has an elongate fluid supply line, which has at its end side a supply connection () for the liquid and has dosing unit connections which are detachably coupled to the hydraulic connection elements of the dosing units ().

Dosing device for liquids

A pipette has a preferably thermoplastic pipette shaft, for slipping on a likewise preferably thermoplastic pipette tip, has a slip-on section which opens at least slightly conically, and an attachment section which is formed on the lower end of the pipette shaft and onto which the slip-on section of the pipette tip is slipped. A sealing section which is made of an elastically-flexible plastic material which seals well with low withdrawal forces is provided on the attachment section. Furthermore, preferably, a fixing section is formed on the plastic material of the attachment section of the pipette shaft at a location that is axially offset relative to the sealing section. The sealing section of elastic-flexible plastic material is molded directly, retentively, on the preferably thermoplastic material of the pipette shaft.

Pipette and process for producing a pipette

A liquid dispensing and/or aspirating device to be operated manually repeatedly, having a controlling device, a motor drive, control electronics, a manually actuatable actuating element, and a programming element, where the quantity of liquid which is conveyed by motor on actuation of the actuating element is adjusted in the control electronics by the programming element. A process interval (t) for a plurality of process steps to be carried out in succession is stored in the control electronics. A first type of actuation of the actuating element triggers an individual process step, while a second type of actuation automatically results in repeated successive triggering of process steps, each in the process interval (t). Handling of the device in practice is greatly improved by the fact that the process interval (t) is automatically determined by the control electronics by analyzing the interval(s) occurring between the individual actuations of the actuating element.

Liquid dispensing and/or aspirating device to be operated manually repeatedly

A dosing device with which several, preferably two, liquids can be measured and dispensed in precise quantities. In this dosing device, two bottle-top dispensers with integrated suction valves, discharge valves and a bottle-top mechanism are attached in a housing. A liquid-reservoir bottle can be affixed to the bottle-top mechanism of each bottle-top dispenser. In particular, affixing of the respectively associated reservoir bottles is ensured without confusion. Activation of the pistons of the bottle-top dispensers takes place with working strokes which differ depending on the spacing. In addition, the housing comprises a blow-out device by means of which, after each dispensing procedure, the discharge device for the liquids can be blown out and cleared of any liquid residues.

A method for detecting the type of replaceable piston-cylinder unit mounted in pipetting or dosing apparatus with the help of a code marking on the piston rod head, so as to eliminate the influence of the chain of tolerances piston rod head/piston rod/piston/cylinder bottom/cylinder flange so that, to a certain extent, larger tolerances may be tolerated for the parts of the piston-cylinder units involves generating relative movement between the piston rod head and a detection device, and thereby detecting a reference point on the piston head with the detection device from laterally of the piston head, and generating relative movement between the piston rod head and the detection device and thereby detecting a code marking of the piston rod head in order to determine the type of piston-cylinder unit mounted. Apparatus is provided with which relative movement is produced between the piston rod head and the detection device by a drive device, and during this movement, a reference point on the side of the piston head as well as the code marking are detected by the detection device, and the code marking is evaluated with respect to the reference point. Also, a replaceable piston-cylinder unit for a pipetting or dosing system is provided which has a code marking on the piston rod head by which the type of the piston-cylinder unit is identifiable, the code marking being detectable by a detector positioned laterally of the piston rod head when the the piston-cylinder unit is mounted in a pipetting or dosing apparatus.

Method and device for detecting the type of replaceable piston-cylinder units for pipetting or dosing apparatus

A dosing device is provided and comprises a withdrawal container and a dosing means comprising at least one dosing unit which is a piston-cylinder unit designed as a disposable member. The piston-cylinder unit discharges into a receiving container and valve means is provided to control flow into and out of the piston-cylinder unit.

Metering device and method for operating a metering device

A metering device for liquids, especially for viscous liquids, preferably liquids which are to be metered under sterile conditions, with a plurality of metering pumps which can be simultaneously actuated. To achieve an optimized mode of operation, it is provided that the surfaces on the bottom of the pump holding plate and the top of the metering channel plate are made as adjoining sealing surfaces, forming a seal, that, in the pump holding plate, there is a bypass channel with outlet openings in the sealing surface on the bottom of the pump holding plate for each metering pump and that by the relative displacement of the pump holding plate and the metering channel plate with respect to one another, the outlet openings of the bypass channel can be moved into a position in which the bypass channel connects the respective metering channel to the respective supply channel in the metering channel plate. In this position, the respective outlet opening is also connected to the metering channel or the supply channel so that overall flushing is possible.
