A sharpening apparatus is provided. The sharpening apparatus includes a foldable case, a first sharpening tool, and a second sharpening tool. The first and second sharpening tools are associated with the foldable case and are rotatable between a storage position and a sharpening position.

A folding knife locking mechanism is provided which prevents the inadvertent closure of a knife blade by utilizing a releasable tang which is compressed between the heel end of the folding knife blade and a stop pin.

A dual bladed folding knife is provided which has adjacent locking mechanisms positioned proximate to an upper edge of the knife handle and dual finger depressions adapted for engagement by a user's finger for releasing the knife blades from a first extended position of use and a second closed position.
