A single-action freewheel with an open diameter greater than 50 mm and with an inner and outer ring. The object is to provide an open central diameter of more than 500 mm while allowing high torques in a freewheel that can be made without consuming much material. The invention is charaterized by two or more rows (3 & 4) of shoes or jaws between the inner ring (1) and the outer ring (2) with normal clutching forces tht act more or less on one plane (13) or diameter, by one or more revolving webs (6) connected to the rings and extending between the rows, and by an activating mechanism (9) that approximately simultaneously tightens and loosens the shoes.

A rammer for artillery shells with a carriage behind the gun's tube that supports a tray in alignment with the powder chamber, that has a mechanism at the rear to intercept the shell, that travels on slides along a track paralleling the axis R of the tube, that is coupled to a piston-and-cylinder drive mechanism to accelerate toward the tube, and that has a braking mechanism to brake it at a prescribed distance from the rear end of the tube. The braking mechanism has a shock absorber position in the longitudinal midplane of the carriage with a piston that moves against the force of a friction spring inside a cylinder and that has a piston rod projecting forward beyond the front of the carriage with a stop mounted on it, whereby the stop rests directly against the rear end of the tube when the carriage is in the forward and braked position.

An ammunition bunker for the main battletank turrets which is arranged behind the tank turret and whose walls are designed by predetermined break lines such that, in the event of an explosion of ammunition in the bunker, its outside walls are hurled off the sides of the tank thereby protecting the crew of the tank.

In the turrets of tanks and other battle systems the ammunition is supposed to be stored in the ammunition bunker of the turret itself, in ammunition-stowage systems. Since tank turrets taper upward as a rule whereas the space available for storing ammunition should be completely exploited, the ammunition-stowage system as a whole can not be installed in the turret from above. To allow the ammunition-stowage system to be installed in the turret, the system is divided into three or four storage racks that can be installed individually in the turret from above. The outer storage racks widen outward in conformity with the slope of the side walls of the turret and have inwardly vertical demarcations, with the intermediate storage rack or intermediate storage racks having vertical demarcations or walls.

An ammunition bunker has a plurality of storage tubes arrayed in rows next to and above each other. A doorway at the rear ends of the tubes is provided through which shelves are inserted and removed from the tubes. The doorway extends over an area which is less than that of the array of tubes such that given tubes lie outside the area of the doorway. In order to access these tubes, the given tubes are mounted at the front ends thereof for pivoting movement at the rear ends of each towards the doorway. Storage tubes disposed adjacent the given tubes in the direction of pivot have cutout portions so as to enable the extraction openings of the pivoted given storage tubes to be in approximately the same position as in the extraction openings of the cutout storage tubes.

Ammunition bunker in which the shells are inserted in individual storage

A mechanism that automatically opens the breech block wedge on a semi-automatic weapon, especially a tank cannon with a training liner. Mounted on the breech of the weapon is an electromechanical drive mechanism that includes an electric motor with a drive shaft on which is mounted an energy-saving flywheel that can be connected through adjustable couplings and a reduction gear to an opener shaft on which is mounted an opener lever that shifts the breech block wedge into the open position when the shaft rotates. The flywheel is accelerated to a nominal speed when the couplings are disengaged. Electronic controls then engage the couplings for a predetermined amount of time and turn off the electric motor. Some of the energy of rotation of the flywheel is transferred to the opener lever. The couplings are then disengaged and the electric motor turned on again. The electronic controls are practically activated by the firing pulse and/or the actual firing procedure.

A gun barrel mount for a battletank in which the gun barrel and its cradle roller may be horizontally inserted into a relatively small aperture in the armor of the battletank turret and maintained in that position with a few threaded fasteners, the entire assembly being easily removable for replacement and/or repair. Insertion of the gun assembly into the turret horizontally obviates the need to separate the turret armor vertically which weakens the armor.

A system for the temporary sealing of the interior of an armored vehicle, especially tanks, against the penetration of liquid or gaseous substances is disclosed. The system is characterized by a tubular seal connected to a central operating system disposed in the interior of the armored vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with at least one ventilation aperture provided in an exterior wall of the armored vehicle which wall defines an interior of the same. The ventilation aperture comprises a ventilation valve in an aperture responsive to compressed air. The ventilation valve is connected to the central operating system and has provided thereover a protective device disposed on the exterior of the armored vehicle. Preferably, the tubular seal within a groove on the chassis or on the turret of a tank.
