A disposable patch pump may be provided with a filling adapter, to ensure filling by an authorized user. The adapter mates with the pump and a source of medicament, such as an insulin vial, to prevent filling the pump directly with a conventional syringe. The adapter and/or pump filling port may be configured with a frangible element, to limit the system to single use.

Medicine delivery device with restricted access filling port

A fluid medicament delivery device includes a patient attachment unit and a separate indicator unit. The patient attachment unit includes a housing and a fluid channel located therein, wherein at least a portion of the fluid channel includes a flexible member substantially coterminous with the housing. The separate indicator unit is adapted to be detachably coupled to the housing of the patient attachment unit and includes a first sensing element for contacting the flexible member when the indicator unit is coupled to the housing to sense a flexure of the flexible member.

Medicine delivery device having detachable pressure sensing unit

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a microfluidic flow restrictor having a converging tapered inlet connected by a constant internal diameter section to a diverging tapered outlet having an outlet face and a smooth and gradual transition from the constant internal diameter section to the outlet face. This dual tapered capillary flow restrictor may be incorporated into a system such as a microfluidic circuit. Using a dual tapered capillary for accurate flow control together with a constant pressure source provides a more steady flow with reduced flow fluctuation caused by bubbles passing or pinning to the capillary end-face. Further, when connected in series, these dual tapered capillary flow restrictors may reduce noise in flow and pressure measurements, reduce bubble segmentation, and reduce bubble pinning.

Microfluidic flow restrictor and system

A fluid medicament delivery device includes a patient attachment unit, containing the fluid medicament, and an indicator unit adapted to be detachably coupled to the patient attachment unit. A method for monitoring the fluid medicament includes independently setting a flow rate of a fluid medicament with the patient attachment unit. A pressure and/or a flow rate of the fluid medicament is sensed with a sensor located in a separate indicator unit in a sensing mode. A status of the fluid medicament delivery device is determined based at least in part on the pressure and/or the flow rate.

Methods for detecting failure states in a medicine delivery device

A cannula insertion device includes a housing defining an opening for receiving therethrough a cannula and further defining a channel, and a cannula forming a lumen, the cannula adapted for sliding movement within the housing from a retracted position to an extended position. When the cannula is in the retracted position, the lumen is located remotely from the channel and the channel is in fluidic communication with the opening. When the cannula is in the extended position, the lumen is in fluidic communication with the channel.

Cannula insertion device and related methods

A manually actuated pump, such as a bolus delivery circuit of an insulin pump, combines a direct drive piston system with a lost motion valve system, to deliver reliably a full bolus dose, while precluding partial dosing or inadvertent overdosing conditions. The pump may also include a signaling device to indicate when a full bolus dose is delivered.

Methods and systems for dosing a medicament

An infusion device for continuous infusion of medication is disclosed, in which infusion is controlled over two separate fluid communications. The infusion is in each fluid communication controlled by restricting means and valve means, and one of the fluid communications further contains a holding device for bolus rate of infusion. The device comprises a flow regulating device comprising a passage defined by at least a first element and a second element, wherein at least one of the first and second element is a primary deformable element adapted to be elastically deformed so as to change the cross sectional area of the passage. Furthermore the device comprises a container for storage and supply of a medication in fluid form, said container comprising a first and a second chamber being arranged relatively to each other so that when volume of the first chamber increases the volume of the second chamber decreases.

Device for administering of medication in fluid form

A tubular elastomer actuator with a shape in a cross-sectional view which shape exposes at most one single axis of symmetry of a specific length, e.g., an oval shape. The actuator could be made from a sheet made from a plurality of plate shaped elements which are laminated together and rolled. Each plate shaped element may have a corrugation that gives the element an anisotropic structure, and contains an electrode on only one surface. The actuator displacement is the result of shrinkage displacement of the plate shaped elements upon the application of electrical field across their thickness.
