Use of stereoisomeric glycosidic compounds of formula (I) as pharmaceutical agents against psoriasis, compounds therefor and pharmaceutical formulations thereof wherein R,and R,are independently selected from &mdash;H, &mdash;OH, (1) and (2) and related esters and ethers thereto; R,is selected from &mdash;H, (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8) and related esters and ethers thereto; R,is (9); R,is selected from the group &mdash;CH,, &mdash;CHO, &mdash;COOH, &mdash;CH,OH and related esters and ethers thereto; R,is selected from &mdash;OH, (10), (11), (12), (13) and (14) in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of disease involving hyperproliferation of dermis cells.

Use of stereoisomers of calendula gylcosides for the treatment of psoriasis

A method and compound for the treatment of disease involving hyperproliferation of dermis cells is provided. In particular, compounds isolated from the species of plants known as calendula have been found to be beneficial in the treatment of psoriasis. An extract of plant material obtained from,has been found to be advantageous as an active compound in medicaments for use in the treatment of psoriasis.
