A method includes determining a heart beat signal during acquisition of MR images obtained at a plurality of cardiac cycles; determining at least one physiological parameter of a heart obtained at the plurality of cardiac cycles; determining a model including, determining, in each of the cardiac cycles, a variable time interval of variable duration and at least one additional time interval based on the heart beat signal and the at least one physiological parameter, the at least one additional time interval having a lower variability in duration than the variable time interval; determining a duration of the variable time interval and a duration of the cardiac cycle for each of the cardiac cycles based on the heart beat signal and the at least one physiological parameter; and assigning the MR images to the different cardiac phases based on the variable time interval and each of the cardiac cycles.

Assignment of MR images to cardiac phases

A method for adapting, per cardiac cycle, the parameters governing interpolation of varying and non-interpolation of fixed fractions of each individual cardiac cycle is provided. A time series of data values associated with a cardiac cycle is received, and the time series is scaled to a reference cardiac cycle, wherein the scaling includes applying a model to the time series to generate a scaled time series of data values associated with the first cardiac cycle. The model is trained using the scaled time series.

Magnetic resonance imaging with ultra short echo times

A magnetic imaging technique which is resistant to changes in breathing while allowing the use of phase ordering to provide effective motion artifact reduction in an optimal time. This is provided by apparatus for magnetic resonance imaging a target object subject to periodic motion, comprising a magnetic resonance imaging scanner for exciting said target object and recovering imaging data in k-space; a sensor for detecting a signal indicative of a position of said target object; classifying logic for classifying said at least one line of imaging data into one of a plurality of groups of lines of imaging date in dependence upon said position detected by said sensor as said target object was excited, each group of lines corresponding to one of a plurality of contiguous ranges of position and scan terminating logic for detecting when two or more groups of lines corresponding to contiguous ranges of position together containing a set of lines of imaging date spanning k-space from which an image can be derived.

Phase ordering with automatic window selection (PAWS) for motion resistant MRI

In Magnetic Resonance Imaging Apparatus, it is necessary to switch the radio frequency electric coils which are positioned around the patient in the imaging volume very rapidly. The present invention achieves such switching using switching devices which are sensitive to control signals other than electrical signals. This removes the need to pass additional electrical conductors, which could carry interfering signals, into the imaging volume and this reduces image degradation. In particular the switching devices may be photodiodes which function in response to optical signals carried by optical fibres.
