An electrical header comprises a dielectric housing having cavities and contact posts held in the cavities. The contact posts extend beyond a first face of the housing for attachment to a substrate and extend beyond a second face of the housing for engagement with contacts of a mating electrical connector. Each of the contact posts has an enlargement in a vicinity of the second face. Each of the enlargements has a width which is greater than a width of its corresponding cavity for preventing the housing from being pulled off of the contact posts when the contact posts are attached to the substrate.

Electrical header with improved post retention

A pin and socket connector assembly includes a stamped and formed pin terminal 2 and a stamped and formed socket terminal 4 received respectively in cavities of a cap housing 6 and a matable plug housing 8. Both the pin and socket terminals have rigid retention ribs 20, 40 located on stabilization sections 12 and 32 which cause the cylindrical stabilization sections to accurately inwardly deform as the terminals are inserted into the housing with the retention ribs engaging internal housing shoulders to lock the terminals in place. The socket terminal 2 has a socket terminal of generally triangular configuration with a seam formed by the terminal edges locate on one side and a slot 50 stamped at the apex of the other sides of the terminal extending partially into the socket section. Rigid embossed dimples 54 are located on the interior of the socket section to form fixed contact points for engaging a mating pin terminal.

High density pin and socket electrical connector

Apparatus (30,42) for a molding press (10) which permits rapid mold module (50,52) change-out has been disclosed. The apparatus includes a sliding frame plate (30) which carries the B-side master frame (48) and plate receiving members (42) for receiving the plates (30). One member (42-b) is mounted on the movable platen (38) and another member (42-a) is located to one side and in alignment with the other so that the frame plate (30) may be shifted in and out of the press (10).

Apparatus for mold module change-out

A dual molded connector and a dual molding process for fabricating a insulative housing having a relatively rigid portion and a relatively more flexible sealing portion is disclosed. The relatively rigid portion is first formed in a mold. Elastomeric material can then be injected after shifting portions of the mold define voids adjacent opposite faces of the molded rigid housing. An internal gate between opposite surfaces of the housing permits sealing material to flow into the void on opposite faces of the housing. Thus, only an external single gate for the injection of sealing material is necessary.
