Disclosed is a laminated structure for use in an absorbent product comprising a hydrophobic acquisition layer adjacent to a fluid permeable top sheet, and an absorbent layer. The hydrophobic layer comprises a thermally consolidated blend of 5% to 35% of thermally bondable hydrophobic fibers and 65% to 95% wood fluff pulp.

A fibrous web is prepared from a composition comprising woodpulp, glass fibers, polyolefin pulp containing carboxylic functionality, an inorganic filler, a polymeric binder, polyolefin pulp devoid of carboxylic functionality, if desired, and polyvinyl chloride, if desired. The fibrous web is useful as an inner layer in a multi-layer sheet floor covering material.

Disclosed is a composition useful for preparing paperboard containers comprising wood pulp, polyolefin pulp containing carboxylic functionality and a water-soluble cationic wet-strength resin. The paperboard is used for preparing containers for liquids such as juices and dairy products. The filled containers have improved durability when exposed to high humidity.
