An electrical submersible pumping system includes a well fluid pump driven by a three-phase motor. The motor has a stack of motor laminations mounted in a housing. The motor laminations have axially aligned slots spaced circumferentially around a bore. Motor windings are wound through the slots for receiving three-phase power provided to the motor. At least one set of three control lines extend axially through the motor laminations radially outward from the bore and equally spaced around the axis, The control lines may extend through channels on the outer diameter of the motor laminations. The control lines may also extend through the same slots that contain the windings. The control lines extend to a downhole element below the motor for controlling the downhole element.

Signal bypass routed through a motor of an electrical submersible pump

A well pump includes a plunger reciprocally carried within a barrel between up stroke and down stroke positions. A tubular linear actuator housing located below the barrel has a rotatable rotor. An array of rotor magnets is mounted to the rotor, directing rotor magnetic fields in an outward direction. A cage is fixed against rotation relative to the housing and carried within the housing for axial movement relative to the rotor and the housing. The cage has a cylindrical inner sidewall surrounding the outer sidewall of the rotor. An array of cage magnets is mounted to the inner sidewall of the cage. The cage magnets direct cage magnetic fields in an inward direction relative to the axis. The cage and rotor magnetic fields interact such rotation of the rotor causes axial movement of the cage. A motor rotates the rotor.

Systems and methods for preventing diffusers in pumps such as electric submersible pumps from bursting or collapsing in over-pressure and/or under-pressure conditions, where one or more diffusers in the pump includes check valves in the exterior diffuser wall. The check valves remain closed when a pressure differential between the diffuser interior and exterior is within a predetermined range, but open when the pressure differential between the diffuser interior and the interstitial space is outside the predetermined range to relieve overpressure and underpressure conditions. When the pressure differential returns to an acceptable range, the check valves close, preventing recirculation of fluid between the diffusers of the different stages. O-rings or other types of seals may be installed between each stage and the pump housing to provide some isolation of the external pressure on the diffuser of each stage.

Systems and methods for preventing damage to pump diffusers

A subterranean pump is delivered on coiled tubing with power and control cables running inside. The pump suction has a tubular inlet that seals in a polished bore in the surrounding tubular. A diverter opens a lateral port and closes entry to the pump suction when the pump is not running and the formation pressure is high enough to bring production to the surface. This configuration prevents the pump from turning while the formation pressure allows production to the surface. If the pump is started it reduces pressure ahead of a movable plug to draw it toward the pump against a spring bias. The lateral ports close and an inline flow path opens to allow the pump to draw through the diverter and discharge into the annular space around the coiled tubing on the way to the surface.

Automatic bypass for ESP pump suction deployed in a PBR in tubing

A wellbore fluid production system that is disposable in a wellbore comprising a separator, a pump, a compressor, and a motor. The separator segregates the gas and liquid and delivers the gas to the compressor inlet and the liquid to the pump inlet. The pump pressurizes the liquid for delivery to the surface. The compressor pressurizes the gas for reinjection into the wellbore, injection into another subterranean formation, or for delivery to the surface.

Electrical submersible pump and gas compressor

A system and method is provided for heating fluid to be pumped by an electrical submersible pumping system. Heat for heating the fluid may be inductively generated by adjusting the power delivered to the motor of the pumping system. In one example, the power adjustment includes supplying the voltage applied to the pump motor to a value less than voltage applied during normal operations. While lowering the voltage the electrical frequency may be varied as well as the electrical waveform.

Method of heating sub sea ESP pumping system

A subsea production system on a sea floor has a pump flowline jumper with a straight intermediate portion and two end portions. Each end portion has a connector for ROV assisted connection between production units. A submersible pump assembly is mounted in the straight portion of the flowline jumper and is lowered along with the flowline jumper into engagement with the production receptacles. The pump assembly boosts pressure of fluid flowing from one of the receptacles to the other. A gas separator may be mounted in the same flowline jumper or in a separate flowline jumper.
