The invention relates to a method for assessing the effect of yarn defects on textile fabrics, which are to be produced from a given yarn, by simulating an image of the fabric. So that assessment of simulated textile fabrics may be carried out with greater reliability and more easily, a first image ( ) of the fabric is generated by simulation based on parameters or measured signals of the given yarn. A second image ( ) of the fabric is generated by simulation based on parameters of a reference yarn and finally the first image is compared with the second image.

Method of assessing the effects of yarn defects on textile fabrics

The invention relates to a method and a device for evaluating the quality of a yarn ( ). In order that further aspects of the quality of a yarn may be taken into consideration and explained by measured values so that the quality of a yarn is as a whole substantially detectable, measured values relating on the one hand to the yarn exposed to friction and on the other hand to the yarn not exposed to friction are to be derived from the yarn. Both measured values are used to form a further measured value which represents a further qualitative feature.

The invention relates to a method for representing properties of elongated textile test specimens such as yarns, rovings and ribbons. In order to create a method which makes values of parameters or measurement results in general ascertainable at a glance even in large numbers and nevertheless also takes differentiated account of critical and less critical parameters or measurement results, values of parameters are plotted along axes which are arranged inclined or substantially concentric relative to one another. Method for representing properties of elongated textile test specimens

The invention relates to a method and apparatus in which an elongated body (1) such as a yarn, a roving or a band, is measured continuously by means of a simple cost-effective sensor (5). A further, more complicated sensor (8) which works more accurately but more slowly is triggered by the simpler sensor if the latter indicates special events. These events are then stored by the complicated sensor and are subsequently analyzed accurately in a greater amount of time. The entire time span occurring between two special events can be utilized for this analysis.

The fluctuations in cross-section of fiber slivers are detected by means of a sensor, and from these detections are derived quality parameters, one of which is based on mass non-uniformity. Measurement signals are compared with a limit value for deviations from the desired weight of the monitored sliver, which limit value is formed as a product of mass non-uniformity and a selectable limit-value factor. Any measurement exceeding the limit value is interpreted as the presence of a thick place in the fiber sliver.

A rapidly reacting measuring element is used at the delivery of the drafting zone on autolevelling drawframes used in the textile industry, which makes it possible to superimpose on the signal thus obtained from the measuring element by means of an electronic system a further measurement signal at the delivery of the drawing passage and thus correct the parameters governing the drafting values in such a way that even short-term variations in cross-section of the textile material are levelled out. The critical factors here are especially the delay time T of the textile material between the correcting element (pair of drafting rollers with variable speed of rotation) and the measuring element and also the overall amplification V of the measurement signal.

A measuring signal derived from a yarn irregularity signal is checked with respect to the number of times it passes through at least one given reference value or hysteresis range, and the indicated value for the irregularity constitutes a statistically certain or significant value whenever the number of passes through the reference value or hysteresis range has reached at least a predetermined value.
