An air control damper assembly for mounting in an air duct comprising a damper blade pivotally mounted within the air duct and means for rotating the damper blade from an open position to a close position. A drive system rotates the damper blade such that the system exerts a high torque and low speed at the beginning and end of the rotation of the blade from one position to the other and a low torque and high speed in the middle of the rotation of the blade between positions. The damper blade is locked in the open and close positions by means of a motor and gear unit. Electrical switches interfacing with a drive disk in the drive system partially controls the energization of the motor.

Damper control mechanism

An air conditioning apparatus of a VAV system has a main controller which comprises an operation mode changing means, a temperature schedule inputting means for inputting data for warming or cooling each of the rooms in accordance with a program, and a room controller having a set room temperature changing means for changing a set room temperature for each of the rooms. The program can be easily changed by operating the controllers so as to meet the life pattern of a resident. The air conditioning apparatus provides advantages of saving energy and comfortableness.

A duct type air conditioning system with a variable capacity blower in which the maximum blower capacity is established at initialization of the system at the optimum blower capacity. The optimum capacity is established by varying the capacity of the blower and measuring the air flow volume and air flow noise. The optimum capacity is inputted into the control system through a central thermostat which has a liquid crystal display associated therewith. The system installer interfaces with the control system by a dialog which occurs through the liquid crystal display. The optimum capacity of the blower is stored in a memory device, and the control system variably controls the capacity of the blower so as not to exceed the optimum capacity.

Central thermostat

The air conditioning apparatus comprises a heat source apparatus, an air blower, a damper disposed in each of branch duct to regulate warm air or cool air to be supplied to each of rooms, a room thermostat placed in each of the rooms, a heat load measuring means and a damper control means. The heat load measuring means controls the degree of opening of the dampers through the damper control means on the basis of output signals of an established temperature and the current room temperature from the room thermostats. Further, the capacity of the heat source apparatus and the capacity of the air blower are determined in accordance with the value of the heat load, and the pressure and the temperature of the air in the air duct.

A controlling system for an air conditioning apparatus includes a controlling apparatus, a main controller and room controller provided in each room. In the main controller, an operation mode changing means control the operations of a heat source device, an air blower and other devices through a controlling apparatus so that they perform any operation mode of 'stop', 'cooling', 'warming', or 'air blowing'; a temperature schedule inputting means is adapted to input a temperature schedule for each room by operating time keys and a temperature key; an interactive input means is to input initial data necessary to the operation of the system in a way of dialogue by operating 'YES' key and 'NO' key; a first display means is to display questions necessary to input the initial data and a temperature schedule; a schedule selecting means is to select a method of air-conditioning of the room provided with a main controller in accordance with information inputted by a schedule key; In the room controller, a mode selecting means is to select a method of air-conditioning of the room provided with a room controller in accordance with information inputted by a mode key; a room temperature setting means is to determine the room temperature of a room so that the room temperature is brought to a value inputted by a room temperature setting key, and a second displaying means is to display a room temperature and other information.

An air conditioning system provided with a variable capability blower and heat source unit is configured such that individual room dampers 9 and controllers 14 can be subsequently added to a central control device as options to convert from an all room simultaneous air conditioning mode to a variable air volume mode with separate temperature control for each room. The utilization of existing power lines to transmit the various information and control signals simplifies the conversion and reduces its cost.

An air duct type multizone air conditioning system having air dampers and corresponding thermostats in respective zones under the control of a main controller. The main controller can override desired temperatures selected by the corresponding thermostats in any of the zones and automatically detects the number of the number of zones, the presence of an auxiliary heater, and a heat pump, and the presence of an air damper and corresponding thermostat properly located in the same zone. The main controller also receives information regarding the operating cost of the heat pump and the auxiliary heater to ensure their cost-effective use.

Duct type multizone air conditioning system

An air-conditioning apparatus capable of regulating temperature in a plurality of rooms independently of the other by adopting a variable air quantity control system, the apparatus being constructed with heat load measuring device for detecting a temperature condition in each room by a room thermostat and measuring the heat load in the room based on the condition signals derived from the detection of the temperature condition; damper control quantity determining device for determining the degree of opening of a damper in each branched duct on the basis of the measured result of the heat load; damper control device for controlling the degree of opening of the damper on the basis of the determination by the damper control quantity determining device; device for measuring the operating conditions of the air-conditioning apparatus with signals obtained from detection of pressure and temperature within the air duct after the damper control by the damper control device; device for determining the number of revolution of an air blowing fan with the pressure signal from the operating conditions measuring device and controlling the air blowing fan based on the thus determined value; and device for determining and controlling the capacity of a compressor based on the output signals signals from the heat load measuring device and the operating conditions measuring device.
