A technology is provided for optimizing compute tasks for performing functions in computer environment. Compute tasks and sub-compute tasks that perform a function within computer environment may be monitored. One or more task patterns may be detected based at least in part on the one or more compute tasks. At least one task patterns is identified as an efficient or alternative compute task pattern to perform the function. An automation option is provided to execute the efficient or alternative compute task pattern to perform the function. Each compute task associated with the efficient or alternative compute task pattern may be automatically executed to perform the function upon acceptance of the automation option.

Automating functions in a computing environment

An intermediary system identifies a portion of the library that is used to load a page, generates a hint file based on just the portion of the library that is used to load the page, and retrieves the hint file each time the page is loaded in the future. For example, the intermediary system may determine a portion of the library that is used to load the page when a page is first requested. Once the intermediary system determines the portion of the library that is used to load the page, the hint file is generated based on the portion. Each subsequent time that the intermediary system receives a request to load the same page, the intermediary system may retrieve the hint file to determine how to load the page.

Page rendering by an intermediary system that uses a truncated library

A system is configured to receive a network resource request from a user device configured with a browsing application, wherein the request includes identification data associated with the user device. The system transmits, to a network resource provider, a request for the network resource, wherein the request transmitted to the network resource provider excludes identification data included in the request received from the user device. The system receives from the network resource provider a response, including a document comprising a field configured to receive payment information for an item purchase. The system receives from the browsing application an indication that an anonymous payment instrument, associated with a first entity different than the user, is to be used to purchase a first item at a first price. The system causes information regarding the anonymous payment instrument to be provided to the network resource provider.

Secure proxy service

Features are disclosed for caching network resources. A system determines whether a resource which does not contain an indication in its associated header that it is cacheable may nevertheless be cached. The determination may be based on observations of a number of requests for the resource over time and from a number of different requesting clients. In response to determining that the resource is cacheable, the system may cache the resource, and in some cases modify the cache control header of resource to facilitate caching. The system may insert fields into the header or otherwise modify the header so that the resource may be cached at a network computing provider, at a requesting client device, or at some other shared or private cache.

Caching of updated network content portions

A browsing process is directed to the generation and management of a browse session at a network computing provider. A client computing device requests a remote browse session instance at a network computing provider. The browse session instance may correspond to requested network content. The network computing provider determines a browse configuration. The browse configuration may identify a communication protocol and various processing actions. The network computing provider retrieves the requested content through an instantiated network browse session instance, and performs a first set of processing actions to generate a processing result. The processing result may be provided to the client computing device for display, including performing a second set of processing actions on the processing result at the client computing device. The processing result, or portions thereof, may be stored in a shared network cache and/or in a local cache.

Remote browsing session management

A system is disclosed that improves the ability for users to select links and/or other display elements via a touch screen, such as the touch screen of a smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device. The system achieves this effect by adjusting the sizes and/or shapes of the touch targets associated with particular display elements. For example, if a particular link on a web page is determined to be difficult to select via a touch screen (based on monitored user behaviors and/or based on an automated analysis of page content), the touch target associated with the link may be increased in size.

Touch target optimization system

Approaches enable three-dimensional (3D) display and interaction with interfaces (such as a webpage, an application, etc.) when the device is operating in a 3D view mode. For example, interface elements can be highlighted, emphasized, animated, or otherwise altered in appearance, and/or arrangement in the renderings of those interfaces based at least in part on an orientation of the device or a position of a user using the device. Further, the 3D view mode can provide for an animated 3D departure and appearance of elements as the device navigates from a current page to a new page. Further still, approaches provide for the ability to specify 3D attributes (such as the appearance, action, etc.) of the interface elements. In this way, a developer of such interfaces can use information (e.g., tags, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) to specify a 3D appearance change to be applied to at least one interface element when the 3D view mode is activated.

Approaches for three-dimensional object display used in content navigation

Disclosed are systems, methods, and other embodiments relating to event processing. A plurality of events from a plurality of services are buffered in a server, each of the services being implemented in at least one service server. An indexed storage of the events is performed in a data store. Metrics are generated from the events, where a condition associated with an operation of the services may be determined from the metrics.

Centralized processing of events

Features are disclosed for analyzing requests for network accessible content, including but not limited to web pages, to determine which topics and other characteristics are popular or are gaining in popularity ('trending'). Content items or sources may be profiled to determine characteristics that two or more content items or sources may have in common. Content requests from multiple client devices may be tracked and analyzed to determine the trending or popular characteristics. Data feeds or reports regarding the summarized content requests may be generated and distributed to content servers and other entities. The data feeds may be used to tailor content, such as by highlighting or featuring content associated with the most-requested content characteristics, or utilizing demographic data to tailor content for different users.

Determining popular and trending content characteristics

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media related to configuration of multiple browser applications to control the functionality of the browser application as at least some content is accessed are provided. The configuration of a server-based browser application and a client-based browser application can be controlled programmatically such that browser configuration can be validated and controlled by at least some content providers. Additionally, the configuration and subsequent processing of content provided by an authenticating content provider can be implemented in a manner to limit content access functionality.

Network browser configuration

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media related to configuration of browser applications executed on client computing device to control the functionality of the browser application as at least some content is accessed. The configuration of the browser application can be controlled programmatically such that the browser configuration can be validated and controlled by at least some content providers. Additionally, the configuration and subsequent processing of content provided by an authenticating content provider can be implemented in a manner such that users of a client computing device and other applications on the client computing device may not have access to modify or otherwise interfere with the operation of the browser software application.

Features are described for the retrieval and processing of network resources in anticipation of their request, and to the display of information about linked network resources prior to activation of the link. For example, embedded resources associated with network resources can be prioritized, and a network computing component can retrieve and process the prioritized embedded resources in response to a determination that there is a likelihood exceeding a threshold that the network resource will be requested. A network computing component can also retrieve linked network resources or portions thereof prior to any determination that a linked network resource may be requested, and then in anticipation of a request for a linked network resource the network computing provider can initiate processing of the linked network resource. Additionally, a client device can display visual effects associated with links to network resources in anticipation of user activation of the links.

Interaction based prioritized retrieval of embedded resources

A system is disclosed that enables a user to access a first piece of content on a first computing device while accessing a related, but different piece of content on a second computing device. In some cases, the different piece of content is a portion of the first piece of content. In some embodiments, the system can automatically identify complementary content and can automatically cause the second computing device to access the complementary content without the user interacting with the second computing device. In some cases, the system may reformat the complementary content for presentation to the user based on characteristics of the second computing device.
