The present invention relates to a culture insert carrier, a culture insert and a culture system for culturing and testing of different kinds of cells, such as for example skin models. A culture insert carrier for supporting at least one culture insert in a culture tray having at least one well, wherein the culture insert carrier comprises a plane member with at least one opening for insertion of the at least one culture insert in such a way that the culture insert carrier supports the at least one culture insert in a position in the culture tray is provided. Further, a culture insert comprising a plurality of suspension elements including a first set of suspension elements and a second set of suspension elements, the suspension elements being adapted to suspend the culture insert in a plurality of vertical positions, including a first vertical position and a second vertical position, in relation to a frame is provided.

A stack of communicating trays for cultivation of cells, whereby the tray stack is equipped with a gas exchanger having at least one processed aperture for fast and substantially uniform distribution of gas to the trays.

A container and closure assembly, affording a simple, quick, ergonomical, and reliable closing operation, provides an intermediate, partly open position that is reliably indicated. The distance of rotation of the closure relative to the container necessary for closing the closure is short, so that quick and simple closing of the container is provided. The closure is mounted to the container by a projection that is cooperatively received in a track. Either the closure or the container may be provided with the projection, the other being provided with the track. In a preferred embodiment, the track includes a protuberance that hinders the movement of the projection past a predetermined position along the track. When a user turns the closure positioned on the container, the engagement between the protuberance and the projection provides a tactile indication to the user during passage of a specific position of the closure on the container, while also preventing the unintentional movement of the closure past the protuberance.

A microtitration system comprises a plurality of well and a frame-like holder with apertures for receiving the wells. Each well has a bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly therefrom so as to define an upper open end, and a depression or groove is formed in an outer surface of the well side wall at a position spaced from the bottom wall. Each aperture of the holder is at least partly defined by a resilient aperture defining means, which is adapted to enter into locking engagement with the depression or groove of a well received in the aperture. The dimensions and the shape of each aperture are such that when a well is inserted into the aperture, the aperture defining means is engaging with the outer surface of the well side wall and is pressed radially outwardly in relation to a central axis of the well till the aperture defining means may snap into locking engagement with the depression or groove formed in the side wall of the well.

Microtitration system

A cell cultivating device comprising superposed, separate partition wall members forming mutually spaced partition walls, which define superposed chambers for containing a cell cultivating medium therebetween. The superposed partition wall members each comprising said partition wall and an upstanding peripheral wall extending transversely thereto, are arranged within a closed outer container having a flat bottom wall and a flat end wall. A liquid cultivating medium may be introduced into the outer container through a filling opening while the container is in an upright position in which it is supported by the end wall. The liquid may then substantially uniformly distribute itself within the cultivating chambers via a tunnel extending along the end wall and interconnecting the cultivating chambers. The partition wall members are preferably sealingly interconnected along the periphery thereof, and the free end of the upper partition wall member may be spaced from the inner surface of the container top wall in order to reduce problem of leakage of liquid medium between the chambers.
