A fixing device and method for transfusing toner on a receptor material is disclosed. Particularly, the fixing device comprises a heated transfuse member having an outermost layer of a material selected from the group of polyorganosiloxanes, fluorosilicones, fluoro-elastomers, phenylsilicones, and mixtures or hybrid compositions thereof. In operation, this outermost layer releases an amount of release agent corresponding to an amount of release agent of 0.05 mg per printed side of A4 paper or below, measured on NopaColor 100 gsm paper at an operating temperature for the transfuse member of 120 degrees Centigrade. Preferably, this outermost layer has a peel force, being measured according to Finat No. 3, with tape TESA 4163 at a peeling speed of 30 cm/min, above 7 N/m.

Fixing device and method for transfusing toner

A fixing device for fixing toner images onto a recording medium comprises an endless fixing member urged into contact with an endless counter member to form a fixing nip there between through which the recording medium passes. A cleaning roller has a surface in contact with the fixing member downstream of the fixing nip, the surface carrying a layer of tacky cleaning material. A controllable applicator unit continuously provides fresh cleaning material to the cleaning roller. A spindle contacts the cleaning roller surface for transporting the fresh cleaning material from the applicator unit across the roller and for transporting the contaminated tacky cleaning material towards an edge of the cleaning roller. Improved removal of debris is thereby possible.

Apparatus and method for fixing toner images onto a recording medium

The device includes an endless fixing member urged into contact with an endless counter member to form a fixing nip therebetween through which a receiving material path extends. A cleaning member having a tacky surface is in contact with the surface of the fixing member to remove debris therefrom. Polymer material particles are applied to the cleaning member to render the surface tacky. A radiant heating device heats the polymer material particles on the cleaning member surface to render the surface tacky prior to contact of the cleaning member surface with the fixing member surface. Debris, especially paper dust, can thereby be reliably removed from the fixing member.

Fixing device for fixing toner images onto a receiving material

The invention is an electrostatographic printer and a method of printing with such a printer. The printer includes a transfer member that is driven along a continuous path, and a toner image depositor that deposits a toner image in powder form on the transfer member. A substrate is fed into contact with the transfer member, and the toner image on the transfer member is heated in advance of the transfer; the transfer member is cooled following the image transfer to a temperature below the glass transition temperature T.sub.g of the toner; then further toner images may be deposited on the transfer member. A controlling pressure roller is positioned in opposition to the transfer member to form a transfer nip, through which the substrate passes, the substrate wrapping partially around the pressure roller both in advance of and following the transfer nip. The temperature of the controlling pressure roller can be governed to control the temperature of the substrate as it passes through the nip, thus attaining improved image transfer.
