A labelling device for electrical terminal blocks is characterized by a unitary labelling element including a base portion which can be connected with the insulated body of the block and a tag portion connected with the base portion in a swingable manner via a strap hinge. When the tag portion is folded to the closed position, it is connected with the base portion via a pin and aperture press-fit connection. The labelling device can be manufactured in a simple manner with a narrow design and reliably retained in the closed position, whereby it also functions to cover the access openings of the terminal block.

An improved separable contact assembly for joining spaced bus bar segments includes first and second contacts arranged above and below and movable with respect to the bus bar segments. The first contact includes a guide lug guided through a guide opening. The second contact includes an extension for receiving the guide lug after it passes through the opening. A clamping screw clamps the contacts to the bus bar segments.

Separable contact arrangement

An assembly for supporting an electrical terminal housing on a carrier rail is provided, including a pair of slide members connected with a guide portion of the housing for sliding movement between latched and released positions. The thickness of the guide is slightly greater than the thickness of the slide members to define a gap therebetween. Each of the slide members includes a lower hook portion engaging a leg of the carrier rail when the slide members are in the latched position to connect the terminal housing with the rail, and a spring is connected with the slide members for normally biasing the hook portions toward the latched position. A first abutment is connected with the housing and a second abutment is connected with the slide members, the second abutment being normally vertically offset from the first abutment by a distance corrsponding with the thickness of the gap. When the housing is lifted with respect to the slide members, the gap is closed and the first and second abutments are arranged opposite each other to prevent lateral movement of the slide members toward the released positions, thereby to prevent unintentional removal of the terminal housing from the carrier rail.

Support assembly for an electrical terminal housing

A connector for electrically connecting a row of electrical clamps with one another includes an electrically conductive connecting strip which is designed to span the clamps and to define gaps with the electrical contacts of the clamps. The connecting strip is of one piece with a plurality of bridging members which are designed to bridge the gaps between the connecting strip and the contacts of the clamps. The bridging members are L-shaped and include long legs which project from the connecting strip and short legs which extend from the long legs and are arranged to engage the contacts of the clamps. The short legs have openings which receive screws for connecting the short legs with the contacts. The heads of the screws are embraced by retaining sleeves which prevent displacement or loss of the screws. The retaining sleeves have openings to permit insertion of a screwdriver for tightening and loosening the screws. The diameters of these openings are smaller than the diameters of the heads of the screws. The retaining sleeves are of one piece with an insulating jacket which surrounds the connecting strip. The connector is simple to manufacture and assemble.

A cross connection link which can establish several electrical connections between an elongated strip-shaped conductor and one or more bus bars in the recess of a terminal block has a series of neighboring L-shaped or U-shaped metallic distancing elements each of which has a leg connected with an edge portion of the strip-shaped conductor by a weakened joint so that it can be readily broken off the strip-shaped conductor, and a web which is integral with the other end portion of the leg and has an aperture for the shank of a screw serving to connect the web with a bus bar. The heads of the screws are adjacent to those sides of the webs which face the strip-shaped conductor, and such heads are confined against movement away from the regions of the respective webs so that they are always ready for engagement by the working end of a tool which is used to move the shanks of selected screws or all screws into mesh with tapped holes in the bus bar or bars. The confining means can constitute portions of the distancing elements or discrete cages consisting of electrically insulating material and connected to each other by an elongated enclosure which surrounds at least the major portion of the strip-shaped conductor.

A support for an electrical busbar, made of plastic material, has a recess for holding a busbar. The lower surface of the recess is a resiliently flexible plate supported in the middle by a rib and provided with projections at opposite sides. Adjacent to the mouth of the recess is a resilient detent arm. When a busbar is inserted, it depresses the arm and at least one of the projections by flexing of the plate. The stress in the plate clamps the busbar in the recess, and the arm snaps into place behind the inserted busbar. One of the projections may serve as an end stop for the busbar, if the support is placed at the busbar end. This form of support is easy to manufacture and to use, and provides very reliable clamping and location of the busbar.
