A respirable gas mixture sensor module () includes a first sensor (--) for measuring a gas and a second sensor (--) for measuring the same gas and apply different principles of measurement. The sensor module () is configured to determine a measurement result for the gas taking into account the measurements. As an alternative the sensor module () includes a first sensor group () including a first sensor (--) and a second sensor group () including a second sensor (--), each for measuring both a first and a second gas and apply different principles of measurement. The sensor module is configured to determine measurement results for the gases, taking into account the respective measurements of the first and second sensors. A ventilator, a therapy device and a method for measuring a plurality of gases of a respirable gas mixture are also provided.

A device () for determining the concentration of a gas component is configured with a radiation source () for radiating () light as a light emission in an infrared wavelength range. Two detector arrays () with two detector elements () are configured suitably for detecting the light emission generated by the radiation source () in two detector arrays (). Two filter elements () are associated with the detector elements (). The two detector elements () are oriented in relation to the radiation source, so that a range of overlap () is obtained due to the two detector arrays (). The range of overlap () causes attenuations in the propagation of light, which may be due to gas molecules or moisture (). The attenuations in the propagation of light affect both detector elements () and are compensated concerning the determination of the concentration.

Device for determining the concentration of at least one gas component in a breathing gas mixture

A device () for determining the concentration of a gas component is configured with a radiation source () for emitting () a light radiation or heat radiation in an infrared wavelength range. A detector array () has at least two detector elements (), configured to detect the radiation generated by the radiation source (), in an angular arrangement () and with filter elements (). At least one of the two detector elements () is oriented in an angular arrangement () in relation to a vertical axis (), so that a range of overlap () is obtained due to the angular arrangements (). The range of overlap () causes attenuations in the propagation of light, which attenuations may be due, for example, to gas molecules or moisture (), affect both detector elements () and are thus compensated concerning the concentration determination.

A device for recording an absorption spectrum of a fluid has a radiation source () that emits a radiation in a spectral range along a beam path (), a measuring path (), along which the radiation passes through the fluid and arranged in the beam path, a tunable Fabry-Perot interferometer (), arranged in the beam path and transmitting radiation in the spectral range as a displaceable bandpass filter, and a detector () measuring the intensity of the radiation in the spectral range. An etalon () is arranged for spectral modulation of radiation in the beam path and has a plurality of transmission maxima () in the spectral range. The bandpass filter, formed by the Fabry-Perot interferometer (), is displaceable across the spectral range such that spectral modulation of the radiation by the etalon () is measured by the detector () as a modulation of radiation intensity over time.

Device and method for fast recording of an absorption spectrum of a fluid using a plurality of etalons in combination with a tunable fabry-perot interferometer

A method for signal detection with a gas analysis system (') includes a radiation source (); a gas measuring section () containing gas to be measured; a Fabry-Perot interferometer (); a thermal sensor () configured to cause a change in voltage between electrodes with electromagnetic radiation falling thereon and arranged such that radiation released by a second interferometer mirror falls on the thermal sensor. The method includes irradiating the gas measuring section with radiation source radiation, continuously increasing or decreasing a distance of interferometer mirrors during a generating of time signal pulses at a constant period of time from one another. After a predefined number of time signal pulses, the voltage generated between the electrodes is detected and stored as a measured signal value. After a further predefined number of time signal pulses, the voltage generated between the electrodes is detected again and stored as a measured signal value.

Method for signal detection in a gas analysis system

A measurement head is provided for a device for measuring the concentration of at least one gas, in particular oxygen. A gas sample a measurement element () is arranged in the region of an opening on a circuit board (). To convey gas a duct () is formed in each of two metal bodies, which surround the measurement element () and serve as magnetic poles. During operation of the measurement head the gas sample flows substantially perpendicularly, first through one of the metal bodies (), and then through the opening () on a side of the measurement element () facing the opening and emerges again through the other metal body ().

A device for measuring the concentrations of paramagnetic gases in a gas sample has at least one modulatable magnetic flux source, which has an air gap, to which a gas sample can be fed. A controllable power source, for generating current and voltage signals, is coupled with the modulatable magnetic flux source in order to generate a modulatable magnetic flux within the air gap. Two measuring points are arranged at least partly within the air gap. Each measuring point has an electrically controllable heating device and a heat conduction-measuring unit or resistive measuring device. Each measuring point is coupled with a variable power source to heat the heating device to a working temperature. Each measuring point is coupled with a measuring circuit to measure heat conduction measured signals generated by the heat conduction-measuring unit, from which the concentrations of paramagnetic gases, which are contained in the gas sample, can be derived.

Apparatus and method for determining the proportion of a substance in a gas sample using an infrared measuring instrument

A measuring head for the determination of the concentration of a paramagnetic gas in a gas sample has first and second housing parts () made of a steel alloy for accommodating a magnet coil body () each. The magnet coil bodies extend concentrically around the central axis of each housing part (). Metallic bars (), which are used as magnet poles for the measuring head, are located at spaced locations with a defined air gap in the assembled state of the measuring head. The bars are arranged in the center of the measuring head in the area of the central axis of the housing parts (). A sample gas cuvette support () is provided in the air gap between the housing parts () for positioning a sample gas cuvette holder (). The sample gas cuvette support () is provided with a gas inlet and gas outlet ().

A highly compact measuring gas cell for a device for measuring the concentration of a paramagnetic gas on the basis of the change in the thermal conductivity of the paramagnetic gas, which is brought about by a change in the magnetic field. The measuring gas cell has a bottom plate () that carries a measuring element () for the detection of the thermal conductivity of the measured gas, electric leads, an electric measuring gas cell heater () and a temperature-dependent electric sensor element () for the detection of the temperature of the measuring gas cell. An infrared optical gas-measuring system with two infrared radiation sources (1, 2) and with at least one multispectral sensor (5). The system is suitable for determining the concentrations of different components of a gas flow. The two infrared radiation sources (1, 2) radiate in different spectral ranges with two different cycle frequencies f.sub.1, f.sub.2. The rays emitted are first passed through a radiation coupler (3), after which they pass through the gas flow to be measured, which is limited by windows (8), at right angles to the direction of flow. The rays finally enter a multispectral sensor (5), of which there is at least one, for measuring the intensity.

Infrared optical gas-measuring system

An optical gas analyzer for measuring the percentage of components in a gas phase by IR absorption, containing a power source, a measuring path containing the gas sample, a photoelectric receiver with an evaluation circuit arranged downstream of it, which receiver detects the IR radiation from the measuring path, and a plurality of filters, which can be introduced one after another into the beam path at a predetermined filter change frequency f, wherein measured signals belonging to the filters are sent by the receiver due to the radiation extinction in the measuring path, is to be improved such that different components in the gas sample can be detected in a simple manner and at good selectivity. To accomplish this object, the receiver is a pyroelectric detector, the evaluation circuit has elements for the evaluation of the voltage signal of the pyroelectric detector, the filter change frequency f is set at a value in the range of the declining branch of the frequency response of the voltage signal, and the pyroelectric detector is selected to be such that the declining branch of the voltage signal has a decline of -20 dB per decade.

Optical gas analyzer

The invention is directed to an apparatus for optically evaluating colorimetric coloration zones automatically wherein not only a single testing tube but also a plurality of reaction zones applied one behind the other to a common carrier can be evaluated. The least quantity of indicator substances for the coloration zones is used and an adequate signal intensity with the least possible consumption of power for the optical signal evaluation is attained. At the same time, the sensitivity to faults is reduced. Such an apparatus includes transmission as well as receiving units on a common mounting carrier. The light of the transmitting unit is conducted via a light conductor through the region of the reagent carrier which is transmittent and the coloration of the channel-shaped reaction zones of the carrier is detected in transmission and reflectance.
