A connector arrangement includes a housing containing at least one open-topped chamber in which is mounted a stationary upwardly-directed knife device, and a rectangular carrier member arranged for downward insertion within the chamber, thereby to displace an insulated wire supported by the carrier member toward a position in which the knife device pierces the insulation layer and is brought into electrical engagement with the conductor contained therein. The carrier member includes a top surface containing a slot for receiving the tip of an operating tool that displaces the carrier member downwardly in the chamber, and a side wall containing at least one lug and slot arrangement by means of which the carrier member may be upwardly displaced upon lever-like operation of the tool in cooperation with a side wall of the chamber. The closing element can be transferred into a closed position at least from one open position, in which a conductor () can be inserted into the closing element (). The invention relates to a device for contacting an electrical conductor, having a base body (), having a closing element () with a receptacle area () for receiving the conductor, having an insulation piercing connector () held in the base body () with a contact region (), wherein the closing element () is movable in a linear direction from an open position to a closed position relative to the base body (), with the insulation piercing connector () being disposed such that its contact region () is located outside of the receptacle area () relative to the closing element () in the open position and inside the receptacle area () relative to the closing element () in the closed position. In order to improve the device it is proposed that a rocker element () and an actuating element () are provided, with the rocker element () being movably mounted in the base body () and disposed relative to the closing element () and actuating element () in such a way that a linear movement of the closing element () from the open position to the closed position can be converted into a linear movement of the actuating element () in the opposite direction and that a linear movement of the actuating element () can be converted into a linear movement of the closing element () from the closed position to the open position in the opposite direction.

An insulation displacement connector device includes a base body, with a cutting clamp mounted on the base body and a closing element which may be displaced relative to the base body. The base body including an operating volume into which an operating tool may be introduced. The operating tool may be pivoted in a pivoting direction within the operating volume. The closing element may thus be moved between an open and a closed position. The closing element defines the operating volume on one side viewed from the pivoting direction.

The invention relates to an electrical unit comprising a mounting device for fastening the unit to a supporting element, e.g. to a mounting rail, and at least one insulation piercing connecting device provided with an insulation piercing element and with a holding element. The insulation piercing element and holding element can move in relation to one another. When the unit is fastened to the supporting element, a conductor can be inserted into the holding element. This enables aid conductor to be looped through the holding element. The conductor can be clamped by transferring the insulation piercing element and holding element into a closed position.

The aim of the invention is to protect an electromagnet switching device when a load is switched to a supply voltage. A current that flows through the load contact is monitored. The electric circuit is interrupted when the current exceeds a threshold value that is below the current carrying capacity of the load contact. The electric circuit is automatically closed again after the current which flows through the load contact has decreased.

An expandable automation system includes both a programmable controller that is capable of stand-alone operation, and a modular programmable controller. The programmable controller that is capable of standalone operation has an interface, such as a multipole plug connector, for connecting expansion units. The modular programmable controller consists of a central processing unit and expansion modules. The expansion modules of the modular programmable controller can be used as expansion units for the programmable controller that is capable of standalone operation.
