The present disclosure provides a bipolar forceps. The bipolar forceps includes a housing having a handle assembly including a movable handle and one or more shafts. An end effector assembly operatively connects to a distal end of the shaft and includes a pair of first and second jaw members. A solenoid is in operative communication with the movable handle and operatively couples to a drive rod operatively coupled to at least one of the first and second jaw members for causing movement thereof. One or both of the first and second jaw members includes one or more teeth configured to engage one or more teeth located on the drive rod such that rotation of the solenoid imparts one of longitudinal and rotational movement of the drive rod such that at least one of the first and second jaw members moves between the open and closed positions.

Apparatus, system and method for performing an electrosurgical procedure

A forceps includes an end effector assembly including first and second jaw members. One or both of the jaw members is moveable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. One or both of the jaw members includes a jaw frame including an engagement recess defined on each lateral side thereof and a replaceable component configured for slidable positioning about the jaw frame. The replaceable component includes an outer jaw housing having an engagement tang disposed on each lateral side thereof. The engagement tangs are configured to engage the engagement recesses of the jaw frame upon slidable positioning of the replaceable component about the jaw frame to secure the replaceable component to the jaw frame. The replaceable component includes an electrically conductive tissue sealing plate engaged to the outer jaw housing to define a tissue sealing surface.

Electrode systems for use with neuromuscular monitoring systems are provided herein. An example electrode system for use with a monitoring system can include a flexible substrate, a connector interface, one or more stimulating electrodes, one or more recording electrodes and a plurality of conductive traces carried on the flexible substrate. The connector interface can be configured to communicatively connect the electrode system with the monitoring system. In addition, the one or more stimulating electrodes can be configured to deliver an electrical pulse, and the one or more recording electrodes can be configured to receive an electrical signal. The plurality of conductive traces can electrically connect at least one stimulating electrode or at least one recording electrode with the connector interface. Further, each of the one or more stimulating electrodes can have an elongate shape with a length dimension that is substantially greater than a width dimension.

Electrode systems for use with medical monitoring systems

A forceps includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members. One (or both) of the first and second jaw members is moveable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. One (or both) of the jaw members includes a longitudinally-extending blade channel defined therein. An electrical cutting insert is releasably engageable within the blade channel of the jaw member such that the jaw member is transitionable between a mechanical cutting mode, wherein the electrical cutting insert is disengaged from the jaw member to permit reciprocation of a knife blade through the blade channel for mechanically cutting tissue grasped between the jaw members, and an electrical cutting mode, wherein the electrical cutting insert is engaged within the blade channel of the jaw member for electrically cutting tissue grasped between the jaw members.

Apparatus, system, and method for performing an electrosurgical procedure

A return pad for use with an electrosurgical system is disclosed. The return pad includes a conductive layer, a contact layer configured to engage a patient's skin and an intermediate layer disposed between the conductive layer and the contact layer. The intermediate layer is adapted to distribute energy.

System and method for providing even heat distribution and cooling return pads

An electrosurgical return electrode is disclosed. The return electrode includes a first and second flexible conductive material layers and a material layer disposed between the first and second conductive material layers. The material layer is transitionable between a solid state and a non-solid state, the material layer is also configured to melt upon an increase in temperature beyond a predetermined threshold, thereby increasing conductivity between the first and second conductive material layer.

Temperature monitoring return electrode

A forceps includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members. One or both of the jaw members is moveable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. One or both of the jaw members includes a jaw frame and a replaceable component engageable with the jaw frame. The replaceable component includes one or more engagement members configured to engage a corresponding engagement member(s) disposed on the jaw frame to secure the replaceable component to the jaw frame. The engagement member(s) is transitionable from a new state to a used state, wherein, in the used state, the engagement member(s) is incapable of reengaging the corresponding engagement member(s).

A cable stand-off for use with an electrosurgical system includes an accordion body portion having a plurality of panels, and a plurality of hinges. Each panel has at least one hole formed therethrough. The holes of the plurality of panels are axially aligned with one another. The plurality of hinges couples adjacent panels to one another. In one embodiment, the hinges couple adjacent panels in a tip-to-tail fashion. The accordion body portion may be made of a flexible material. Each panels may further include at least one slot extending from a hole to an edge of the panel.

An electrosurgical return electrode includes a conductive pad including a patient-contacting surface configured to conduct electrosurgical energy, and a temperature sensing circuit coupled to the conductive pad. The temperature sensing circuit includes a plurality of switching elements connected in series, wherein each of the plurality of switching elements is configured to vary in impedance in response to temperature changes, such that an interrogation signal transmitted therethrough is indicative of the temperature change.
