A downhole power generating apparatus comprising a low pressure chamber, a floating piston, a high pressure chamber, a first flow through path, a second flow through path, and a turbine. The low pressure chamber includes an inlet and an outlet for cycling tubing fluid. The floating piston separates the low pressure chamber into an upper and lower section. The floating piston is cyclically responsive to a cycle of tubing fluid and another cycle of tubing fluid. The first flow through path couples a fluid from the lower section of the low pressure chamber to the high pressure chamber in response to a cyclical response of the floating piston. The second flow through path couples the fluid from the high pressure chamber to the lower section in response to another cyclical response of the floating piston.

Downhole power generating apparatus

An annular safety valve that is positionable in a wellbore may include a housing having an opening extending through the housing to allow to allow pressure to transmit between a first annular area of the wellbore below the annular safety valve and a second annular area of the wellbore above the annular safety valve. The housing can define the opening by a seat face. A poppet may extend through the opening. A groove may at least partially surrounding the seat face for maintaining a shape of the seat face in response to an increase in pressure in the first area of the wellbore. The shape of the seat face may correspond to a surface of the poppet for preventing pressure from transmitting between the first annular area of the wellbore and the second annular area of the wellbore when the annular safety valve is in a closed position.

Annular safety valve

A downhole ball valve includes a housing that includes a tubular member; a ball seat positioned in the tubular member, the ball seat including a sealing surface; and a ball that includes a first hemispherical portion, a second hemispherical portion, and a bore that extends through the ball between the first and second hemispherical portions. The ball is adjustable between a closed position with the first hemispherical portion sealingly engaged with the sealing surface of the ball seat to close the bore to fluid communication with the tubular member, and an open position with the bore at least partially in fluid communication with the tubular member. The first hemispherical portion includes a first material, and at least a portion of the second hemispherical portion that extends from a surface of the ball towards the bore of the ball includes a second material different than the first material.

Downhole ball valve

A well tool having an actuator sleeve in a housing. The actuator sleeve has an internal shifting tool engaging profile. The tool has an actuator in the housing that is responsive to a remote signal to change from an unactuated state to an actuated state and shift the actuator sleeve from a first position to a second position. A fluid chamber in the housing is defined between the actuator sleeve and the actuator. The fluid chamber contains a fluid to communicate movement of the actuator to the actuator sleeve.

Remote and manual actuated a well tool

A downhole actuation system comprises an actuation mechanism comprising an indicator; a wellbore tubular; and a collet coupled to the wellbore tubular. The collet comprises a collet protrusion disposed on one or more collet springs, and the collet protrusion has a position on the one or more collet springs that is configured to provide a first longitudinal force to the indicator in a first direction and a second longitudinal force to the indicator in a second direction. The first longitudinal force is different than the second longitudinal force.

A ball valve comprises a ball rotatably disposed within a housing, and a trunnion plate supporting the ball. The trunnion plate comprises a trunnion plate hole, and a trunnion plate shoulder disposed on a surface of the trunnion plate about the trunnion plate hole, where the trunnion plate shoulder has a length in the axial direction of the ball valve that is greater than a width in the radial direction of the ball valve.

A ball within a ball valve comprises a ball, an interior fluid passage extending through the ball, a first flow passage disposed in the ball that allows fluid communication between an exterior fluid and the interior fluid passage, a second flow passage disposed in the ball that extends through a wall of the ball to the interior fluid passage, where the first flow passage and the second flow passage are on opposite hemispheres of the ball, and a flow through device. The flow through device comprises a plug disposed in the second flow passage and configured to sealingly engage the ball, and a shear device configured to engage the plug and retain the plug in the second flow passage.

Ball valve safety plug

A downhole tool including a ball valve having a pivotal ball and providing full drift clearance through a fluid pathway of the valve over a portion of a pivotal range of the ball is described. An internal bore of the ball includes a first opening larger than a second opening, and the internal bore transitions between the first and second openings. The first opening overlays or encompasses an opening formed by a first bore portion over a range of pivot of the ball, and the second opening may be fully encompassed by an opening formed by a second bore portion over a pivotal range when the internal bore is not centrally aligned with the first or second bore portions.
