Presented herein are techniques to analyze network traffic and equipment based on telemetry generated by a plurality of network devices. A method includes generating first telemetry at a first network device, receiving, at the first network device, via an Internet Protocol anycast addressing scheme, at least one of second telemetry generated at a second network device, and third telemetry generated at a third network device, performing, on the first network device using a local processing unit, first analytics on the first telemetry, performing, on the first network device using the local processing unit, second analytics on the at least one of the second telemetry and the third telemetry, and transmitting data resulting from the first analytics and the second analytics to a fourth network device.

Distributed virtualization of telemetry processing with IP anycast

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving at a network device, route convergence measurements and traffic demand measurements from a plurality of routers, and computing network availability based on the measurements at the network device. The route convergence measurements are associated with route computations at the routers and the traffic demand measurements include portions of a demand matrix associated with the routers. An apparatus and logic are also disclosed herein.

Network availability analytics

In one embodiment, a method includes assigning at a server, priority levels to channels associated with video broadcast content, transmitting the assigned priority levels to a network device transmitting the video broadcast content to receivers, and updating the assigned priority levels based on channel information received at the server. A policy is applied to the video broadcast content based on the assigned priority levels when network congestion occurs. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.

Video content priority aware congestion management

A system and method for measuring convergence performance in a network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a plurality of probes at a network device, temporarily storing data from at least a portion of the received probes and deleting at least a portion of the temporarily stored data at regular intervals, and receiving a packet indicating a convergence event and storing data from probes received over a predetermined period.

Convergence measurement in computer network

A novel fast reroute (FRR) technique is provided for quickly and efficiently rerouting selected types of network traffic in response to a node or link failure at the edge of a computer network. According to the technique, the network includes first and second edge devices that function as 'FRR mates,' such that network traffic originally destined for one FRR mate may be quickly rerouted to the other without having to wait for conventional network convergence. When an edge device receives rerouted packets originally destined for its FRR mate, the device responds by forwarding only those rerouted packets matching the selected traffic types; rerouted packets that do not match the selected traffic types are dropped or otherwise discarded. The first and second edge devices may be statically configured as FRR mates, e.g., by a network administrator, or they may be configured to automatically detect their compatibility as FRR mates.

System and method for PE-node protection

A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing convergence for a dual-homed site in a network is presented. An occurrence of a failure between a first Provider Edge (PE) device and a first Customer Edge (CE) device in communication with a dual-homed site is detected. A determination is made whether an alternate route exists for the dual-homed site in a routing table associated with the first PE device. When an alternate route exists then a routing entry associated with the first CE device in a routing table of said first PE device is kept from being deleted for a predetermined amount of time, the routing table is modified to reference the alternate route, the routing entry is rewritten to perform a POP and lookup in a VRF table of the first PE device, and the routing entry is deleted after the predetermined amount of time has elapsed.
