Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a radio unit () for controlling power levels of spatially separated transceivers (-) connected to the radio unit () via corresponding antenna ports (a-j). Each transceiver (-) is capable of performing measurements on uplink transmissions from wireless devices in a wireless communication network (). The radio unit () receives, from each transceiver (-), measurements on uplink transmissions from wireless devices. Then, the radio unit () determines, for each transceiver (-), a load based on how many wireless devices that have the transceiver as the transceiver with the most relevant measurement for its uplink transmissions. The radio unit () also controls a power level of at least one first transceiver () based on at least one of the determined loads for the transceivers (-). Embodiments of the radio unit () are also described.

Mechanisms for selecting TDD patterns for DL and UL communication in TDD slots on CCs in a cell. A method is performed by a network management node. The method includes performing selection of the TDD patterns for DL and UL communication on CCs in the cell. According to the selection of the TDD patterns, at least one of the CCs is configured with a first TDD pattern, and at least one of the CCs is configured with a second TDD pattern. There is a higher fraction of DL TDD slots in the first TDD pattern than in the second TDD pattern.

Selection of TDD patterns for DL and UL communication

A method performed by an intermediate unit of a distributed base station system of a wireless communication network. The distributed base station system has a first base unit and a second base unit connected to the intermediate unit. The intermediate unit is further connected to a first remote unit, which is further connected for distributing wireless signals to pieces of User Equipment (UEs). The intermediate unit receives, from the first base unit, first data and sends the first data over a point-to-point connection to the first remote unit for further distribution wirelessly over a radio channel to the UEs. In response to the reception of the first data, a first indication is sent to the second base unit that the radio channel is free. The second base unit can send second data that is then to be sent from the remote unit towards the UEs on the radio channel.

Methods and nodes of a distributed base station system for improved downlink transmission

A network node carries out operations for use in coordinating data transmissions to user equipments in a wireless communication network and, in at least one embodiment, the network node obtains signal strength values indicating antenna relationships between respective user equipments and respective antennas among two or more antennas involving at least two access nodes in the network. The network node arranges the user equipments into groups, based on the antenna relationships, and, based on the antenna relationships, associates each group of user equipments with a sub-set of the two or more antennas. Still further, the network node coordinates data transmissions performed by the at least two access nodes to each group of user equipments, using the associated sub-set of the two one or more antennas.

Method and arrangement for efficient group communication

The present invention relates to the field of coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP) in wireless communication networks, in particular to methods, an apparatus, and a network node for use in performing coordinated data transmissions in a wireless communication network. A method for use in a network node for coordinating data transmission to user equipments in a wireless communication network, wherein the wireless communication network comprising at least two access nodes each access node having one or more antennas and being arranged to perform coordinated data transmissions to user equipments is provided. The method comprising: obtaining signal strength values associated with the one or more antennas of the at least two access nodes for a number of user equipments; arranging the number of user equipments into one or more groups of user equipments and associating each of the one or more groups of user equipments with a sub-set of the one or more antennas of the at least two access nodes based on the obtained signal strength values; and coordinating data transmission performed by the at least two access nodes to each of the one or more groups of user equipments based on the subset of the one or more antennas of the at least two access nodes associated with each group of user equipments, respectively.

Performing coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP) in a wireless communication network

A method and arrangement for enabling communication of data between a UE and a first base station in a cellular communication network further comprising the second base station, and the second base station is connected to the first base station via a communication interface. A scheduling request is received from the first base station. The scheduling request is based on a suggested scheduling which is determined by the first base station, and the suggested scheduling concerns the communication of data. Scheduling information is determined based on the scheduling request, and the scheduling information is transmitted to the UE. By determining a suggested scheduling in a micro base station, but transmitting scheduling information from an overlaying macro base station, local awareness of communication conditions may be applied, and interferences from neighboring micro base stations may be decreased.

The invention provides an increase in the radio coverage area () of a base transceiver station () having access to multiple transceivers () by dedicating at least one of the transceivers () for BCCH data. This BCCH transceiver () is connected to an antenna arrangement () 5 comprising at least two antenna elements (). Method and apparatus for limiting peer-to-peer communication interference

The present invention provides a quality based resource management in a radio communications system. In this resource management, channel resources are dynamically allocated to a multiresource capable mobile unit based on a radio quality of a radio link between the mobile unit and an associated base station. Thus, the amount of these resources to be allocated to the mobile unit is determined based on this radio quality and can be dynamically updated based on new quality reports. A high experienced quality means that more resources are allocated. The quality based resource allocation can also be combined with a quality based transmission scheduling. In such a case, mobile units experiencing a high quality are allowed to transmit more often in a period of time than mobile units with low quality.

Radio quality based channel resource management

A broadcast channel, such as a broadcast control channel that carries a short message service, in a GSM/EDGE or similar communication system can be extended with additional timeslots. These additional timeslots can be pointed out in a tree structure, the root of which is in the SMS broadcast channel.
