An intelligent light, such as a light for connecting with a low voltage line, is provided. The intelligent light includes a light source for coupling with a low voltage line, and a processor in communication with the light source and the low voltage line. The processor determines a voltage on the low voltage line and operates intermittent switching of the light source as a function of the determined voltage and the intermittent switching used to maintain an output level of the light source.

Intelligent light for controlling lighting level

A control device, such as a device for connecting with and providing control data on a low voltage line, is provided disclosed. The control device includes a power supply that generates a DC voltage from an input voltage communicated via a low voltage line by a power source. The control device also includes a receiver that extracts timing data from the input voltage and output circuitry that is operable to communicate information to the power source via the low voltage line.

Smart control device

A power supply, such as for powering and supplying communication data to devices connected with a low voltage line, is disclosed. For example, a converter device is coupled with an alternating current voltage source. The converter device down-converts an alternating current voltage to a direct current voltage. A switching device is in communication with the converter device. A processor is in communication with the switching device. The processor outputs a signal to the switching device. The switching device generates a square wave signal as a function of the signal from the processor and the direct current voltage. A remote device is controlled by data encoded in the square wave signal.

Smart power supply

An angular position sensor employs a pair of magnets that are disposed on a rotating cylinder at opposite ends of a diameter of the cylinder. A hall-effect flux sensor is fixed within the cylinder and offset from a line of geometric and magnetic symmetry between the magnets. The offset sensor detects a linear change in flux of the magnets as the magnets rotate with the cylinder over a predetermined angular distance and thereby determines the angular position of the cylinder. The offset of the sensor is adjusted to reduce the sensing error.

Angular position sensor

An accelerometer is limited to a very small displacement range, and within that range, is useful for detecting motion and change of rate of motion by optical, magnetic, or electrical means. A unique spring suspends a planar mass that is very sensitive to motion of an object in which the accelerometer is held. In one embodiment, an optical detector detects the motion of the mass by the intensity of reflected radiation. In another embodiment, a Hall-effect sensor detects the motion of the mass by a current generated by the motion of the mass in an electric field. The accelerometer may be used in a variety of automotive, appliance, and industrial applications.

Accelerometer

A solenoid-actuated latchable relay is controlled by a microprocessor that turns on at least one triac to selectively energize a solenoid coil with a desired polarity energization signal. The triac is only operated momentarily so that a single energization pulse is applied to the coil to move an associated magnetic plunger to a position corresponding to the polarity of the pulse. The magnetic plunger is latched in this position until another pulse is applied to change the position.
