A sucker rod assembly is disclosed for use in oil well pumping apparatus. The assembly comprises a rod with roll-formed threads on the end thereof and a rod-end fitting with a threaded socket for receiving the threaded rod. An unthreaded portion on the outer end of the socket is extruded into surface engagement with the unthreaded surface of the rod to seal and mechanically interlock the rod and fitting.

Method of making a sucker rod assembly

A sucker rod assembly is disclosed for use in oil well pumping apparatus. The assembly is constructed of a rod and a steel rod-end fitting. A unitary threaded head at the end of the rod is screwed into a socket in the rod-end fitting. The threaded head is of enlarged diameter and a tapered shoulder is provided at the juncture of the rod in the head. The fitting has a cylindrical socket with a threaded portion at the bottom and an unthreaded flange adjacent the outer end. After the head is screwed into the socket the flange is extruded into surface engagement with the tapered shoulder to provide a mechanical interlock between the rod and the fitting.

Coupling for sucker rod assembly

A torque limiting set screw is disclosed with a driving head at one end and a seating head at the other end. The driving head is connected with a threaded shank by a torque control neck. The seating head comprises a disk having a seating surface with a point extending from the surface for indentation into a member to be retained. The seating surface is of larger area than the cross-sectional area of the shank and is adapted to seat against the member after the point is fully indented. The large area surface engagement by the seating head distributes the force of the set screw on the member and prevents damage to the member.

Torque limiting set screw

A tool holder for a mining tool bit is disclosed; it comprises a unitary steel body with a cylindrical shank for supporting the tool holder and a conical head for holding a tool bit. The shank includes a retaining neck constructed of a roll-formed portion of the shank. A cylindrical section between the shank and the head includes an extracting neck which is constructed of a roll-formed portion of the section.
