An escape system comprises a slide for facilitating evacuation of from a structure to water, wherein the slide comprises at least one helical inflatable path. The or each helical inflatable path may be configured to extend generally vertically between the structure and the water. The slide may comprise a plurality of helical inflatable paths. The slide may comprise spacing means for controlling the pitch between helix turns of the or each of the helical inflatable paths. A bowsing arrangement for the slide is also disclosed.

Escape system

An aircrew ensemble comprising a garment () for covering at least a part of a body of a wearer and an inflatable counter-pressure bladder (), carried by the garment (). The inflatable counter-pressure bladder () is formed from a moisture permeable material allowing the passage therethrough of perspiration from the wearer's body.

Aircrew ensembles

A method of countering the effects of G-forces on a person comprises passing inflation gas to a bladder () around a leg of the person by starting the inflation of the bladder () to an operating pressure from a point () adjacent an ankle of the leg as well as from a point () spaced from said ankle towards the abdomen of the wearer. The inflation then progresses away from the ankle at the same time as the upper part of the bladder is being inflated. When the bladder () is inflated to the operating pressure, the blood vessels of the leg are constricted.

A compression chamber is formed by two end walls () and a flexible tubular member () extending between the end walls (). The flexible tubular member () is formed from an inner tube () of air impermeable material and an outer tube () of a braided material. The inner tube () is unstressed when the chamber is filled with oxygen or air and the outer tube () bears the pressure load.

Portable compression chambers

An inflatable tube () in a fascine is provided with a cover () of a braided material to provide significant strength. An outer cover () of KEVLAR&#x2122; may also be provided. The braided cover () and the inflatable tube () are held at the ends of the tube by a clamping mechanism () and a cylinder () of inflation gas is supported within the tube (), when the tube () is inflated.

Fascines

A conditioning garment has front and rear panels () with a neck opening () between them. A manifold () extends along the lower edge of the front () panel and a manifold () extends along the lower edge of the rear panel (). Tubes () extend between the manifolds () and carry conditioned liquid over the torso of a wearer to heat/cool the torso. The tubes () are equally spaced and generally the same length to provide even heating/cooling. The garment () is easy to don and remove. The garment () can be modified by the addition of various chest compression devices, a neck support and a harness tensioning device. All these are designed to encounter increased +G-forces on the body of a wearer.

Conditioning garments

A liferaft system has a container () which contains an inflatable liferaft () in a hermetically sealed bag () and an emergency pack () outside the bag (). The emergency pack () is connected to the liferaft so that, upon inflation of the liferaft (), the emergency pack () is automatically drawn into the liferaft (). The container () is separable into two parts () to allow deployment of the liferaft () and includes also a hatch () through which the emergency pack () can be removed and replaced without disturbing the liferaft ().

Liferaft system

A fascine comprises a plurality of elongate hollow inflatable pipes (). The pipes () can be surmounted by a trackway () formed by track sections () that are also inflatable. The pipes () in the track sections () can be vacuum packed for compact transportation and easy deployment.
