Methods and systems for managing power consumption of a device are provided. Exemplary methods and systems include monitoring a proximity connection between a device and a mobile device and, upon detecting by the device one or more of the mobile device is beyond the predetermined distance or the proximity connection disconnected, automatically transitioning the device from a wake mode to a sleep mode and providing a user interphase prompt on one or more of the device and the mobile device to query a user whether to allow the device to enter the sleep mode.

Method of and system for managing power consumption of a device

The technology described herein includes a method of receiving, by a phone, audio data from an application running on a computing system coupled to the phone; sending the audio data to an audio output device coupled with the phone; and detecting an incoming phone call to the phone and automatically handling the incoming phone call, based at least in part on one or more preferences of a user of the phone, while receiving the audio data from the application and sending the audio data to audio output device.

Phone as an audio output device for a computing system

A portable voice unit communications via a communication device is provided. A controller of the communication device establishes, using a transceiver, a wireless connection with a portable voice unit. The controller receives, via an input device, a selection of a given audio accessory from a plurality of audio accessories, the communication device acting as a communication hub between the portable voice unit and the plurality of audio accessories. The controller provides, between the portable voice unit and the wireless connection, a voice call. The controller connects, to the given audio accessory, the voice call.

Power management is provided in an Internet protocol (IP) telephone and system to provide energy savings during times that the IP telephone is not in use or use is not expected. A low-power operating mode disables at least a portion of the IP telephone. The low-power operating mode may be initiated by a command received by the IP telephone from the IP telephone controller according to a schedule, which may be modified locally by the user to individualize the user's schedule. The low-power operating mode may alternatively be activated manually by a user pressing a special key, sequence or combination. The low-power operating mode is canceled upon an indication that a user either is or should be present at the IP telephone.

The present disclosure relates to a directory search system. Searching can be provided in a very intuitive manner through a graphical user interface that is part of a search application provided on an electronic device. The search system can employ a first letter of a first name combined with a first letter of a last name to quickly find contacts to dial without the use of a keyboard. Each letter can be associated with a pointer that is slidable along alphabet identifiers. By filtering contacts within the directory using the first letter of the first name and first letter of the last names, the user can retrieve a short list of potential contacts that the user wishes to retrieve information about. With thousands of possible entries, filtering using the first letter of the first name and the first letter of the last name often returns a short list of matches.

Quick directory search system on a touch screen device and methods thereof

This disclosure relates to a conference call user interface and methods thereof. In one illustrative embodiment, the user interface provides a simple teleconferencing solution that allows a user to establish a conference as well as an individual conversation. Graphical representations, in the form of avatars, can be provided. A table surrounded by the avatars can be used to mimic a meeting room as though the parties were actually there. When phone icons on the chests of the avatars are actuated, a directory application to search for parties can be provided. A consult line, separate from the avatars, can also be provided. After connecting and associating the parties with an avatar, call handling actions can be displayed on or around each of the avatars.

Conference call user interface and methods thereof

A system and method for receiving sound from a teleconference host at a teleconference phone is disclosed. The method comprises identifying a person to act as the teleconference host. A location of the identified teleconference host relative to the teleconference phone is determined. A plurality of microphones on the conference phone are configured as a beamforming receiver to receive an audio signal from the location of the teleconference host. Selected microphones from the plurality of microphones are biased to receive sound from the direction of the teleconference host relative to sound received from other directions.

Host mode for an audio conference phone

A conference device and an application for enabling geographically dispersed individuals to collaborate with one another are disclosed herein. Communication protocols can be used to invoke actions within the conference device and the application. Files can be transferred between the application and conference device. The application can remotely control connected conference devices. The application along with the conference device can offer a range of capabilities from multi-party audio conferencing to three hundred and sixty degree microphone pick-up for in-room participants. Multi-party video conferencing capabilities and in-room presentation displays via a built-in video interface to the in-room projector or monitor are provided. The conference device can include features such as Bluetooth&#x2122; or other connection that enables detection of wireless devices when meeting participants are present by virtue of their mobile device being within range.

Conferencing and collaboration system and methods thereof

Generally described, the present disclosure relates to electronic devices. More specifically, the disclosure relates to a collaboration appliance and methods thereof. In one illustrative embodiment, the collaboration appliance can provide an all-in-one conference room solution having numerous functions and features. The collaboration appliance can incorporate a beam forming microphone array and speaker for high quality audio conferencing, a built-in display capability that supports two different displays, one being an external high resolution monitor or projector connected via a high-definition multimedia interface, the other being a built-in liquid crystal display that has a touch overlay for navigation and application invocation. Built-in support for multi-party high definition video conferencing can be provided.

Collaboration appliance and methods thereof

A system and method are provided for initiating a call to an intended called party on one or more alternate numbers based on availability of the called party, as determined by the called party's presence server or other database. If the called party is determined to be 'not available' and does not have any useful forwarding features enabled on his/her primary line served by a primary number, calls are attempted on one or more alternate numbers rather than on the primary number.

System and method for call initiation using availability information

A method system and apparatus for enhancing digital voice call initiation between a first telephony device and a second telephony device is provided. Text data is associated with digital voice data conveyed between the first telephony device and the second telephony device, the associating occurring prior to initiating transmitting the digital voice data, the text data based on input data received via an input device associated with the first telephony device. The text data is transmitted to the second telephony device in conjunction with transmitting the digital voice data, the text data to be provided synchronously at the second telephony device with an announcement of the digital voice data.

Method, system and apparatus for enhancing digital voice call initiation between a calling telephony device and a called telephony device

A system for accessing scheduling information. In one illustrative embodiment, a user can log into a phone system by entering their extension number and passcode, which allows the phone to assume their profile. The user then enters the credentials required to access their PC based calendar information, which is stored by a server application. The server application can look up the scheduling information that is stored in the user's PC based calendar application on a message server. The information can then be provided to the phone by the server application where it is displayed. Application programming interfaces can facilitate communications between the phone and the server application and the server application and the message server. Other information located on the message server can also be retrieved through the server application and is not limited to scheduling information.

System apparatus and method for accessing scheduling information

A telecommunication conference device, system and method for enhancing participation within a conference call. The present application relates to telecommunications, and more particularly, to a conference phone capable of being connected with wireless devices such that they can be used as microphone extensions. In one embodiment, the conference phone can include a wireless interface and a microphone. The conference phone can connect with one or more wireless devices through the wireless interface. The conference phone can receive audio from the one or more wireless devices and at the same time, can receive audio from the microphone on the conference phone. The audio received by the conference phone, through the one or more wireless devices and the microphone, can be combined into a single audio stream using an audio mixer. The teleconference phone can remove echoing effects that are within the audio stream and then transmit the audio over a telephone network.

Wireless extensions for a conference unit and methods thereof

A system and method for displaying a contact's availability information on a display of a voice over internet protocol (IP) phone includes sending a request for a selected telephone contact's availability information. The request is from the IP phone to a web service calendar module operable on a web server connected to the IP phone. The telephone contact's availability information is extracted from an application server connected to the web server. The availability information is formatted for display in a graphical user interface on the IP phone. The availability information for the telephone contact is then displayed on the IP phone to enable a user to determine when the selected telephone contact is available to receive a telephone call.
