An absorbent article comprising an absorbent gelling material (AGM) having an encapsulated compound of one or more odor controlling organic compounds disposed upon a surface thereof is described. Alternatively, an AGM particle comprising an encapsulated reactive compound of one or more odor controlling organic compounds disposed as a surface coating thereon is described. Additionally, a method to manufacture an absorbent article is described. The method provides for the steps of: a) providing a solution in a solvent system, the solution has an encapsulating agent and one or more odor controlling organic compounds as a surface coating; b) applying an amount of the solution to a surface of an AGM particle; and, c) incorporating the AGM particle having the solution applied thereto into the absorbent article.

Disclosed are absorbent articles having a cyclodextrin complex of one or more odor controlling organic compounds wherein the cyclodextrin is a substituted cyclodextrin (wherein the H atom of OH groups in positions 2, 3 and 6 is partially or entirely replaced by a substituent &#x2014;R) having a substitution degree (DS) of 0.4 or more &#x2014;R substituents per molecule of cyclodextrin and wherein substitution in position 2 is 20% or above, in position 6 is 20% or above and in position 3 is 50% or below. Cyclodextrin complexes of this type release the odor controlling organic compound much faster and in more complete manner than non-substituted or differently substituted cyclodextrin complexes thus the odor control efficacy is improved.

An absorbent article, such as a catamenial device, having a liquid pervious topsheet, a backsheet joined to the topsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet is disclosed. The present invention relates to compositions, kits, and films formed therefrom which are useful as cosmetic or therapeutic agents, as well as methods of their use. The compositions, kits, and films herein are particularly useful as polishes for mammalian nails. More particularly, the present invention relates to compositions and kits which, when applied to mammalian nails form films exhibiting long wear. When applied to mammalian nails, the present kits and compositions form films exhibiting surface energies from about 32 mN/m to about 43 mN/m and polarities from about 0.19 to about 0.29.
