Embodiments of a method, a circuit and a system are disclosed. In an embodiment, a discharge protection circuit is disclosed. The discharge protection circuit includes a switch having a capacitive coupling between a gate and a drain of the switch, wherein the capacitive coupling facilitates a capacitively coupled current. The discharge protection circuit further includes a gate network including at least the gate of the switch, a gate control element and a resistor connected to the gate and the gate control element. In addition, the discharge protection circuit includes an electrostatic discharge rail that connects to a diode that is coupled to the gate and the resistor, wherein the capacitive coupling facilitates sinking of at least a part of an electrostatic discharge current via the gate network.

Discharge protection circuit and method for operating a discharge protection circuit

A circuit for controlling body biasing of a transistor is disclosed. The transistor includes a first terminal, a second terminal, a gate and a body terminal. The circuit includes a body control circuit coupled to the first terminal and the second terminal. The body control circuit is configured to connect the body terminal to ground when a voltage at the second terminal is less than a fix predefined voltage. The body control circuit is further configured to connect the body terminal to the second terminal when voltage at the first terminal is higher than voltage at the second terminal and the voltage at the second terminal is higher than the fix predefined voltage, and to connect the body terminal to the first terminal when the voltage at the first terminal is less than the voltage at the second terminal and the voltage at the first terminal is higher than the fix predefined voltage.

Transistor body control

A power converter including a buck converter to receive input power and set operating voltages of the power converter, a current sensing circuit to determine an input current of the power converter, a charge pump circuit to store charge delivered by the voltage regulation circuit and output to a load and to a battery pack a current larger than the input current, and a battery pack controller to control switching and provide feedback within the power converter.

Implementation of high efficiency battery charger for electronic devices

In an example embodiment, an apparatus includes a bridge rectifier circuit having branches between the AC and DC nodes formed by a set of transistors. A load current measurement circuit includes a current-controlled current source coupled to the bridge rectifier circuit. The current control current source is configured to generate a mirrored current that is a scaled version of a current through at least one of the set of transistors. A current integration circuit is configured to integrate the mirrored current by charging a capacitor with the scaled current in a first mode and discharging the capacitor in a second mode. A sample and hold circuit is configured to set an output node to a voltage equal to a voltage stored by the capacitor in response to the current integration circuit entering the second mode and prior to the discharge of the capacitor.

Load current measurement

A power converter including a power conditioning circuit to receive input power and set operating voltages of the power converter, a current sensing circuit to determine an input current of the power converter, a voltage regulation circuit to step down a voltage level of the input power, a charge pump circuit to store charge delivered by the voltage regulation circuit and output to a load a current larger than the input current, and a power path controller to control switching and provide feedback within the power converter.

Implementation of high-voltage direct-charging 2:1 switched-capacitor converter for battery charging of electronic devices

A load switch includes a switch element and first and second control circuits. The switch element has an input terminal for receiving an input voltage, an output terminal for providing an output voltage, and a control terminal for receiving a switch signal, which turns the switch element on and off. The first control circuit is connected to the control terminal of the switch element and turns off the switch element in response to a first control signal. The second control circuit also is connected to the control terminal of the switch element and keeps the switch element turned off, after the first control circuit has turned off the switch element.

Load switch and method of switching same

A surge protection circuit includes a DC trigger circuit that generates a trigger signal when a surge pulse occurs, and a current conducting unit, coupled to the DC trigger circuit, that generates a first clamp voltage as an output voltage of the surge protection circuit and conducts surge currents to ground in response to the trigger signal. The DC trigger circuit includes a surge detection circuit and a first amplification circuit. The surge detection circuit detects if a surge pulse occurs, and triggers the first amplification circuit to generate the trigger signal when the surge detection circuit detects a surge pulse.

Surge protection circuit

A wireless charging receiver operates on a resonance principle and includes an impedance matching circuit coupled between an antenna and a rectifier circuit. The impedance matching circuit has both series-connected and parallel-connected capacitors. At least one of the capacitors is a tunable variable capacitor. A method is provided for automatically adjusting a capacitance value of the at least one variable capacitor based on an error voltage between a target rectifier voltage and a measured rectifier voltage. Automatically adjusting the antenna impedance of the receiver provides for improved power transfer efficiency for changing operating conditions. In one embodiment, one or more of the parallel-connected capacitors are variable capacitors. In another embodiment, one or more of the series-connected capacitors are variable capacitors.

Automatic tuning of resonance-based wireless charging receiver

A voltage selector circuit is described. The voltage selector circuit includes a first voltage input, a second voltage input, and a voltage comparison input. The voltage selector circuit also includes a first voltage selector connected to an output. The first voltage selector is configured to compare the first voltage input and the second voltage input to the voltage comparison input. The voltage selector circuit also includes a second voltage selector connected to the output. The second voltage selector is configured to compare the first voltage input to the second voltage input using an early trigger, such that the second voltage selector is configured to switch on before the first voltage selector switches off.

Low/high voltage selector

In one embodiment, a circuit is provided. The circuit includes a low-ohmic circuit and a a power supply node configured and arranged for providing a supply voltage across the low-ohmic circuit to a load from which current can be drawn. The circuit also includes a current reference circuit, configured and arranged for setting a current reference level that is based on a portion of the current from the power supply node, and a current-sensing circuit. The current-sensing circuit senses and is responsive to current passing through the low-ohmic circuit. The current-sensing circuit operates in a normal mode, in which the current-sensing circuit senses an amount of current passing through the low ohmic circuit that is less than the current threshold level, and in an over-current mode, in which the current-sensing circuit senses an amount of current passing through the low ohmic circuit that is greater than the current threshold level.
