A flexible sunscreen is provided intended for use in a sunshade assembly of the type comprising a flexible sunscreen having a central part and two opposed inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps connected to the central part by means of folding lines, and two opposed longitudinal guides for receiving therein and guiding corresponding ones of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps of the flexible sunscreen, which guides are provided with locking members for engaging an outer end of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps for preventing these edge flaps from moving out of the longitudinal guides. The central part of the flexible sunscreen mainly is manufactured from a first material with a first stiffness wherein of the inwardly folded longitudinal edge flaps and of the parts of the central part adjacent the edge flaps at least part is made of a second material with a second higher stiffness.

A rollo assembly for use in a vehicle with an opening, includes a shaft, a screen wound on/off said shaft where a forward end is provided with a beam and opposite channels guide edges of the screen and ends of the beam. Drive cables are provided with connecting members for drivingly engaging respective counter connecting members provided at ends of the beam. The shaft, beam and screen are combined into a detachable unit which, when the screen is substantially fully wound onto the shaft and the cables assume a position in which the connecting members at least partially protrude from a longitudinal end of the channels, can be moved relative to said channels for connecting or disconnecting the counter connecting members to or from the connecting members. A support maintains the connecting members of the cables, when maximally protruding from said longitudinal end of the channels, in a well-defined position.

A wind deflector assembly includes a wind deflector member which extends in a transverse direction of the vehicle and is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The wind deflector member is connected to a first end of at least one pivotable wind deflector arm of which an opposite second end is at least pivotally connected to a stationary part. A biasing device engages the wind deflector arm and urges the wind deflector arm towards the extended position. The biasing device is at least pivotally connected to the stationary part through a pivot.

A method of mounting a roof panel assembly to a vehicle having a roof opening in its fixed roof includes: mounting a frame of the roof panel assembly to the fixed roof from below with an operating mechanism and a ring frame in a position corresponding to a closed position of the movable panel, providing an amount of paste-like adhering material onto the ring frame distributed around the circumference thereof, positioning the movable panel onto the ring frame from above with the adhering material interpositioned and compressing the adhering material until a correct position with respect to the vehicle roof is reached, and keeping the movable panel in this position until the adhering material is sufficiently hardened to maintain the panel in its position.

Method of mounting a roof panel assembly

A method of assembling a roof assembly for a vehicle comprises providing a first frame part having a drive element guide, providing a second frame part having a drive element guide and providing a drive element configured to drive a movable part of the roof assembly and being driven by a drive motor. The first and second frame parts are mounted to each other such that the drive element extends from the drive element guide of the first frame part to the drive element guide of the second frame part.

A drive mechanism for an open roof construction includes a stationary guide part defining a first guide channel, a bracket having a forward end and a rearward end. The forward end includes a guide shoe cooperating with the first guide channel. A lifting unit cooperates with the rearward end of the bracket to lift/lower said rearward end and slide the bracket relative to the lifting unit. A driven slide moves relative to the stationary guide part and is configured to move the guide shoe along the first guide channel and is further configured to lift/lower the rearward end of the bracket. A panel carrier is supported by the bracket and slides in a direction substantially corresponding with the direction of the sliding movement of the bracket. The driven slide is configured to cause the sliding movement of a panel carrier relative to the bracket.

An open roof construction for a vehicle comprises a roof opening in a stationary roof part and a seal extending along the roof opening and a panel movable between a closing and opening position for closing and opening, respectively, said roof opening. The panel comprises a first panel part which both in the closing and opening positions is positioned inside the seal, as seen in a top plan view, as well as a second panel part which both in the closing and opening positions is positioned outside the seal. Front and rear mechanisms cause movement of the panel. At least one mechanism is provided at the first panel part. A movable element is positioned outside the seal and has a drive mechanism. The second panel part is provided with at least one drive member which is operatively coupled to the drive mechanism of the movable element.

A tensioning device for tensioning a flexible elongate member, such as a cord, comprises a first winding member which can rotate around an axle for, directly or indirectly, winding and unwinding the elongate member at a first end thereof, and a second winding member which can rotate around said axle for, directly or indirectly, winding and unwinding the elongate member at the second end thereof. The first and second winding members are interconnected by a tensioning member striving to cause a relative rotation between the first and second winding members for creating a prestress or tension in the elongate member. An open roof system for a vehicle comprises at least first and second movable elements, each movable between a retracted and a deployed position. At least two drive cable assemblies transfer the motor torque to said movable elements. The drive cable assemblies comprise a flexible first part having first and second ends, the first part being driven by a motor. The first end portion of the flexible first part connects to one of the first and second movable elements, and a first guiding channel guides the second end. The drive cable assembly further comprises an elongated second part, guided in a second guiding channel to one of the first and second movable elements and connected thereto. During at least part of the operation, the elongated second part moves substantially in the same direction as an end portion of the first part of the cable assembly.

Open roof construction for a vehicle having a roof assembly with a panel and a mechanism for closing and opening a roof opening. The moving mechanism comprises two stationary guides extending at least partly in a non-parallel manner along opposite longitudinal edges of the roof opening and two pivot arms each having a first end movably attached to the panel and a second end connected to one of the stationary guides. Each pivot arm is provided with at least one guide member, whereas the movable panel comprises at least two guide parts along which the guide members will move when the respective pivot arms pivot around a respective pivot axis. The shape of said guide parts is such that as a result of the cooperation between corresponding guide members and guide parts the movable panel may be moved in a vertical and/or horizontal direction.

A shading assembly for shading an opening with at least two opposite opening sides in a structure comprises a flexible shading member which is movable between a position completely covering said opening and a position at least partially freeing said opening. Said flexible shading member is defined by two shading member parts which each have a first edge connected to one of said opposite opening sides and an opposite second edge, wherein said second edges of both shading member parts together define an elongate releasable connection device of the type further comprising a movable operating member which upon movement along said second edges connects or disconnects said second edges.

A roof assembly for a vehicle having a roof opening in its fixed roof comprising a movable closure element for closing and opening the roof opening. A stationary part comprises guide rails extending transversely of the roof opening in vehicle longitudinal direction. A closure moving mechanism comprises an electric motor fixed to the stationary part, flexible drive cables guided in a guide through a defined path at least partly within said guide rails and being engaged by the electric motor in order to be moved through the guide and along the guide rails. The guide is constructed such that, when an excessive force is exerted on the cable by the closure element in the event of a crash, it allows the respective guide cable to deviate from the defined path dictated by the guide during normal use, to allow limited longitudinal movement of the closure element.

An open roof construction for a vehicle comprises a stationary roof part, a roof opening provided therein, and a roof assembly mounted to the stationary roof part, having a panel which is movable between closed and open positions for closing and opening, respectively, said roof opening. A moving mechanism is provided for connecting the movable panel to the stationary roof and moving it with respect thereto, wherein the moving mechanism at least comprises two longitudinal curved parts attached to the movable panel, two stationary guides extending along opposite longitudinal edges of the roof opening and two linking mechanisms for movably linking the stationary guides with the respective curved parts. The stationary guides extend in a curved manner in such a way that, as seen in a top plan view of the vehicle, the distance between the stationary guides varies at different lengthwise positions of the vehicle, wherein each curved part is attached to a pivot arm which is attached to the movable panel and which is configured to pivot with respect to the panel around a vertically extending pivot axis.

A roof assembly for a vehicle having an opening in the fixed roof comprises a stationary guide rail on at least one side of the roof opening and a slidable slide with an operating mechanism. At least one closure element is supported by the operating mechanism and is adjustable between a closed position, in which it closes the roof opening at least partially, and an open position, in which it releases the roof opening at least partially. Each operating mechanism comprises a laterally extending curve rib and a guide member engaging around the curve rib and being attached to a carrier. The curve rib and carrier of the guide member are each attached to either one of the closure element and the slide and are adapted to slide with respect to each other. The guide member is rotatably attached to the carrier so as to compensate for a variation in inclination between the carrier and curve rib at the position of the guide member.
