A sensor system comprises a LiDAR unit, a camera for visible light and a cover through which light arrives at the LiDAR unit and the camera. The cover comprises a layer containing dyes. The light transmission of the cover in the range from 380 nm to 780 nm is 3% to 25% and in the range from 380 nm to 1100 nm is 40% or more. The attenuation of the LiDAR signal by the cover is such that at least 65% of the original signal intensity reaches the LiDAR detector. The layer containing dyes contains a composition comprising i) at least 70% by weight of a transparent thermoplastic polymer, ii) at least one green and/or red dye and iii) at least one red and/or violet dye. The product of the sum of the weight % fractions of dyes ii) and iii) and the thickness of the layer containing dyes is 0.041 to 0.12 wt % mm. Finally, the composition contains 0% to 0.0005% by weight of IR absorbers.

The invention relates to a vehicle utilizing a LiDAR sensor system for driver assistance systems. A composition consisting of a thermoplastic material based on polycarbonate is used here for forming the substrate layer of a cover for the sensor with respect to the surroundings. The cover has a polysiloxane-based topcoat layer comprising a combination of organically modified silane with a silica sol, the silicon dioxide having a d90 particle size of less than 0.50 micron, in order to achieve high abrasion resistance and weathering stability.

The present invention provides a coating which contains a primer layer on a substrate with a scratch resistant layer adhered to the primer, wherein the primer layer contains a hardened epoxy resin prepared from a hardener and a multi epoxy-functional compound and the scratch resistant layer contains an epoxide group containing hydrolyzable silane. A process for the production of coated planar moldings of thermoplastics is disclosed. The process entails extrusion of a molded body, cooling of the molding, applying the aqueous-based coating agent and drying. The coating agent, having a pH value of less than 6, contains a salt of sulfondicarboxylic diester, a water-insoluble oxide of metal or semi-metal and an acid/water mixture.
