A self-contained sheet for forming an image comprising a support, a first layer of microcapsules containing a color precursor of the electron donating type in a carrier liquid on the surface of the support, a layer of microspheres overlying the microcapsule layer, and a developer material present in at least one of the microcapsule layer or microsphere layer, wherein the developer material can react with the color precursor to form a visible image when the color precursor is released from the microcapsules.

A method for printing carbonless forms on an electrostatic printer or copier and carbonless forms for use in electrostatic printers or copiers are disclosed. A method of printing carbonless forms comprises providing a recording sheet comprising a substrate, the substrate being coated with a coated front (CF) coating comprising a developer, hollow microspheres and a binder composition, wherein the binder composition comprises polyvinyl alcohol and printing on the recording sheet with an electrostatic printer or copier.

Copyable carbonless paper

A process for producing a microencapsulated system comprising the steps of: (a) emulsifying a solution of color precursor in a solvent as a first internal phase and a diluent as a second internal phase in an external phase to produce discrete droplets of each of said first and second phases; and (b) encapsulating said droplets, is disclosed. A recording sheet is also disclosed which comprises a substrate having a layer of microencapsules containing a color precursor solution and microcapsules containing a diluent. Preferably the microcapsules are clusters of gelatin capsules.

Capsules having discrete solvent/color former and diluent capsule

A lightweight, electroconductive foam comprising an effective amount of a conductive ionic salt, a polymer capable of complexing said conductive ionic salt and an effective amount of particulate conductive material such as carbon black or metal is disclosed. Additionally, a method of preparing a lightweight electroconductive foam having a surface resistivity less than about 10.sup.10 ohms per square by an extrusion process is disclosed. Foams of the present invention exhibit relatively high conductivities yet require only relatively low amounts of particulate conductive material.

Electroconductive foams

Highly loaded improved closed cell foams comprising a plurality of coalesced strands or profiles of an alkenyl aromatic thermoplastic synthetic resin or mixture of an olefin polymer resin and a copolymer of ethylene with one or more copolymerizable comonomers having a lower melting point than the olefin polymer resin. The loading of the nucleating additive is in a range of about 0.5 to about 50 weight percent, based on total resin weight. When highly loaded with carbon black these foams are electroconductive foams.
