Methods of operating an electronic device are provided. A method of operating a first electronic device includes listening for a wireless transmission by a second electronic device on a wireless communications channel. The method includes determining whether a packet is a particular type of packet. The method includes assigning a randomized time delay value that defines a randomized delay period, in response to determining that the packet is the particular type of packet. The method includes beginning the randomized delay period in response to determining that the wireless communications channel is clear. Moreover, the method includes transmitting the packet via the wireless communications channel based on expiration of the randomized delay period. Related electronic devices and computer program products are also provided.

A method for personalized monitoring of a user's health, e.g. on a personal electronic device, optionally in combination with a computing device. The method obtains () sensor data from one or more sensors associated with the user and generates (), based on the sensor data, measurement values of a primary parameter. The method further identifies (), among a default set of secondary parameters, one or more selected secondary parameters which, for the user, are found to correlate with the primary parameter. The user equipment is operative to receive, via the wireless interface, network assistance information for a media streaming session, and to transmit media streaming session related information to the cellular communication network.

This positioning scheme can include two parts, where a first part and second part are either uplink-based or downlink-based, but the two parts are different from each other. Positioning measurements performed in the first part may be sent along with reference signals in the second part.

A method of operating a terminal device and network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunications system for communicating on a primary cell supporting a primary component carrier on radio resources within a first frequency band and a secondary cell supporting a secondary component carrier on radio resources within a second frequency band. The infrastructure equipment establishes plural configuration settings for the secondary carrier based on measurements of radio usage in the second frequency band which are conveyed to the terminal device. The terminal device makes channel quality measurements for the secondary component carrier according to the different configuration settings and reports these to the infrastructure equipment. Based on these measurements of channel quality for the different configurations, the infrastructure equipment selects one of the configuration settings, and conveys an indication of this to the terminal device in association with an allocation of transmission resources on the secondary component carrier.

A system includes a moveable element adapted to move relative to a coordinate system defined for a robot, an object detection transceiver unit adapted to be mounted on the moveable element, and a controller. The controller controls the object detection transceiver unit to emit a signal and obtain a return signal for an operational cell of the robot at each of a series of predetermined positions to emulate a transceiver aperture larger than an aperture of the object detection transceiver unit. A location corresponding to a marker present in the operational cell is determined from the return signals. A predetermined operation is carried out where the predetermined operation includes using the determined location to guide movement of the robot.

A secure indoor positioning device, system and method. A mobile electronic device is detected entering into proximity of a stationary electronic device. In response, a plurality of secure session parameters is negotiated via two-way wireless communication between the stationary electronic device and the mobile electronic device. One or more of the negotiated plurality of secure session parameters is communicated to one or more other stationary electronic devices. At one or more of the plurality of stationary electronic devices, secure messages broadcasted by the mobile electronic device are received. These messages are decrypted or authenticated using one or more of the negotiated secure session parameters and are used to determine a position of the mobile electronic device.
