A GPR system the implements a modified multistatic mode of operation is provided. The GPR is suitable for mounting on an unmanned aerial vehicle. The GPR system has radar transceivers. The GPR system transmits transmit signal serially via the transceivers. For each transceiver that transmits a transmit signal, the GPR system receives a return signal acquired by each transceiver except for a return signal for the transceiver that transmits the transmit signal. The GPR system outputs of matrix of return signals that includes a null value for the return signals of the transceivers that transmit.

UAV ground penetrating radar array

A homodyne motion sensor or detector based on ultra-wideband radar utilizes the entire received waveform through implementation of a voltage boosting receiver. The receiver includes a receiver input and a receiver output. A first diode is connected to the receiver output. A first charge storage capacitor is connected from between the first diode and the receiver output to ground. A second charge storage capacitor is connected between the receiver input and the first diode. A second diode is connected from between the second charge storage capacitor and the first diode to ground. The dual diode receiver performs voltage boosting of a RF signal received at the receiver input, thereby enhancing receiver sensitivity.

Full-wave receiver architecture for the homodyne motion sensor

An ultra-wideband (UWB) delay and multiply receiver is formed of a receive antenna; a variable gain attenuator connected to the receive antenna; a signal splitter connected to the variable gain attenuator; a multiplier having one input connected to an undelayed signal from the signal splitter and another input connected to a delayed signal from the signal splitter, the delay between the splitter signals being equal to the spacing between pulses from a transmitter whose pulses are being received by the receive antenna; a peak detection circuit connected to the output of the multiplier and connected to the variable gain attenuator to control the variable gain attenuator to maintain a constant amplitude output from the multiplier; and a digital output circuit connected to the output of the multiplier.

UWB delay and multiply receiver

Ultra wideband radar motion sensors strategically placed in an area of interest communicate with a wireless ad hoc network to provide remote area surveillance. Swept range impulse radar and a heart and respiration monitor combined with the motion sensor further improves discrimination.

Ultra-wideband radar sensors and networks

An in-container monitoring sensor system is based on an UWB radar intrusion detector positioned in a container and having a range gate set to the farthest wall of the container from the detector. Multipath reflections within the container make every point on or in the container appear to be at the range gate, allowing intrusion detection anywhere in the container. The system also includes other sensors to provide false alarm discrimination, and may include other sensors to monitor other parameters, e.g. radiation. The sensor system also includes a control subsystem for controlling system operation. Communications and information extraction capability may also be included. A method of detecting intrusion into a container uses UWB radar, and may also include false alarm discrimination. A secure container has an UWB based monitoring system.

Smart container UWB sensor system for situational awareness of intrusion alarms

An ultra-wideband (UWB) dual impulse transmitter is made up of a trigger edge selection circuit actuated by a single trigger input pulse; a first step recovery diode (SRD) based pulser connected to the trigger edge selection circuit to generate a first impulse output; and a second step recovery diode (SRD) based pulser connected to the trigger edge selection circuit in parallel to the first pulser to generate a second impulse output having a selected delay from the first impulse output.

UWB transmitter

A dual burst transmitter for ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems generates a pair of precisely spaced RF bursts from a single trigger event. An input trigger pulse produces two oscillator trigger pulses, an initial pulse and a delayed pulse, in a dual trigger generator. The two oscillator trigger pulses drive a gated RF burst (power output) oscillator. A bias driver circuit gates the RF output oscillator on and off and sets the RF burst packet width. The bias driver also level shifts the drive signal to the level that is required for the RF output device.

UWB dual burst transmit driver

The present invention presents a simple and novel channel estimation scheme for UWB communication systems. As disclosed herein, the present invention maximizes the extraction of information by incorporating a new generation of transmitted-reference (Tr) transceivers that utilize a single reference pulse(s) or a preamble of reference pulses to provide improved channel estimation while offering higher Bit Error Rate (BER) performance and data rates without diluting the transmitter power.

UWB channel estimation using new generating TR transceivers

A memory wire Braille tactile system for continuously replicating a plurality of Braille characters on a single display which is substantially less costly than conventional prior art and allows the user to maintain their level of touch sensitivity. The inventive device includes a housing having an interior portion, a securing member attached near one end of the housing within the interior portion, a first plate attached to the housing opposite of the securing member, a second plate between the first plate and the securing member, a plurality of contactor shafts slidably projecting through the plates, and a plurality of memory wires connected at one end to the securing member and connected to the contactor shafts opposite thereof. A plurality of compression springs are attached to the contactors for forcing the contactors outward from the first plate. Electrical current is selectively applied to selective memory wires thereby transforming them into an austenitic state which creates the desired Braille characters.
