A pitch controlled wind turbine comprising a tower, a nacelle mounted on the tower, a hub mounted rotatably on the nacelle, and at least three wind turbine blades is disclosed. Each wind turbine blade extends between a root end connected to the hub via a pitch mechanism, and a tip end. The wind turbine further comprises at least three blade connecting members, each blade connecting member extending between a connection point on one wind turbine blade and a connection point on a neighboring wind turbine blade, the connection points being arranged at a distance from the root end and at a distance from the tip end of the wind turbine blade. The wind turbine further comprises at least three pre-tension members, each pre-tension member being connected to one of the blade connecting members and to a hub part, the pre-tension members thereby providing pre-tension in the blade connecting members.

Method and a device for dampening movement in a multiple rotor wind turbine located at sea

A wind turbine comprising a tower () with a tower wall and having at least one nacelle () mounted thereon, and a yaw system () interconnecting the tower () and at least one nacelle () is disclosed. The yaw system () comprises a yaw claw () comprising an upper radially extending part (), a lower radially extending part () and an axially extending part () interconnecting the upper radially extending part () and the lower radially extending part (), thereby defining a space. A sliding bearing connection with at least two axial sliding surfaces () and at least one radial sliding surface () is arranged between the yaw claw () and a flange () arranged in the space defined by the yaw claw (). At least one yaw drive () comprising a toothed gear () is arranged in meshing connection with a toothed yaw ring (). The axially extending part () of the yaw claw () and the meshing connection between the toothed gear () and the toothed yaw ring () are arranged at the same side of the tower wall.

A first aspect of the invention provides a method of testing a yaw system () of a wind turbine, the wind turbine comprising a rotor; the yaw system () comprising a yaw gear () coupled to the rotor so that rotation of the yaw gear () causes yaw rotation of the rotor, and first and second sub-systems (), the first sub-system () comprising a first pinion gear () and a first drive motor () coupled to the yaw gear () by the first pinion gear (), the second sub-system () comprising a second pinion gear () and a second drive motor () coupled to the yaw gear () by the second pinion gear (). The method comprises the steps of: testing the first sub-system () by: applying a first yaw moment to the yaw gear () with the second drive motor () via the second pinion gear (), reacting the first yaw moment with the first pinion gear (), monitoring a yaw motion parameter indicative of rotation of the yaw gear (), and determining a condition of the first sub-system () based on the monitored yaw motion parameter.

Method and apparatus for testing a yaw system

A first aspect of the invention provides a method of monitoring the condition of a yaw system of a wind turbine, the wind turbine comprising a rotor, the yaw system arranged to control a yaw rotation of the rotor, the method comprising: providing design datarepresenting an expected relationship between yaw moment and yaw rotation speed; measuring a pair of parameters, the pair of parameters comprising a yaw moment parameter indicative of a yaw moment applied to the yaw system, and a yaw rotation speed parameter indicative of a yaw rotation speed caused by the yaw moment; using the design data to evaluate whether the pair of parameters deviates from the expectedrelationship; and determining a condition of the yaw system on the basis of the evaluation.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the condition of a yaw system

A method for controlling a multirotor wind turbine is disclosed. A first operational state of each of the energy generating units of the wind turbine is obtained. A difference in thrust acting on at least two of the energy generating units is detected. At least one constraint parameter of the set of operational constraints is adjusted in accordance with prevailing operating conditions and in accordance with the detected difference in thrust, and a new operational state for at least one of the energy generating units is derived, based on the at least one adjusted constraint parameter, the new operational state(s) counteracting the detected difference in thrust. Finally, the wind turbine is controlled in accordance with the new operational states for the energy generating units.

Thrust balance control of a multirotor wind turbine based on constraints

A pitch system () for rotating a blade () of a wind turbine relative to a hub () generally comprises a bearing () having an inner bearing ring () configured to be mounted to the hub and an outer bearing ring () configured to be mounted to the blade. A first coupling member () positioned between the hub and inner bearing ring extends radially inward. A second coupling member () positioned between the blade and outer bearing ring extends radially inward and over the inner bearing ring. A drive system () includes a first drive member () coupled to the first coupling member and a first driven member () coupled to the second coupling member. The first drive member is configured to move the first driven member to rotate the outer bearing ring relative to the inner bearing ring and thereby pitch the blade.
