A control element for a motor vehicle provides a palpable response when touched. The control element includes a sensor, a touch-sensitive surface, which when touched causes the sensor to respond. An inert surface surrounds the touch-sensitive surface, which when touched does not cause the sensor to respond. An actuator is disposed between the touch sensitive surface and the inert surface and includes two components that can move relative to each other. One component is connected with the touch-sensitive surface, and the other component is connected with the inert surface. The actuator drives a motion of the touch-sensitive surface relative to the inert surface once a contact has been acquired.

A windshield for a motor vehicle with a display unit is disclosed. The windshield is realized in the form of a laminated glass pane with at least an outer pane, an inner pane and an intermediate compound foil. The display unit is arranged between the outer pane and the inner pane, wherein the display unit features a flexible printed circuit and at least one display element arranged on the flexible printed circuit, as well as a secondary coil. The secondary coil is designed for making available electrical energy, which is inductively coupled into the secondary coil, in order to supply the display unit with energy. A head-up display for a motor vehicle includes a housing, which may be integrated into an instrument panel of the motor vehicle. A combiner is configured to combine an image of the head-up display and an environment in front of the motor vehicle observable through the combiner. The combiner is movable from a position of non-use into a position of use. An image generator is configured to generate the image. A cover may be brought into a closed position, which covers the housing when not in use. The cover has an opening to enable an emission of light of a light beam of the image generator with the cover closed.

A liquid crystal display is provided with several drive segments, between which at least one intermediate surface without drive segments is situated. Such liquid crystal displays are used, in particular, for displaying information contents of low information density, for example, as numerical display elements. This realizes, among other things, a simple and cost-efficient improvement of the electrostatic properties and the legibility, namely also under unfavorable light conditions. A three-dimensional image or scenery displaying the first set of data in a first layer and the second set of data in a second layer are created. The first layer is separated from the second layer by a specified distance. A hologram is determined, which corresponds to a recording of the scenery via a reference beam. A plurality of controllable phase delay elements are set according to the determined hologram. The hologram is reconstructed by illuminating the plurality of phase delay elements using a coherent light source. The light of the reconstructed hologram is directed into the visual field of a driver via a wind screen of a vehicle.

A heads-up display comprises a monochrome display device for generating an image and an optical device for generating a virtual image from the image of the display device. The monochrome display device comprises a display and a backlight for illuminating the display from its backside. The backlight comprises a first light source emitting light of a first color, a second light source emitting light of a second color, a first light guide coupled to the first light source, and a second light guide coupled to the second light source. The first and second light guides are disposed in such close juxtaposition behind the display so that they illuminate together the entire backside of the display and illuminate a first region of the display associated with the first light guide with the first color and a second region of the display associated with the second light guide with the second color.

A display for showing text and graphical images includes an electrically conducting layer which is connected to a shield potential, such as a ground potential, for shielding the display from external electromagnetic disturbances and preventing radiation from the display of electromagnetic disturbances generated by the display.

A display device, in particular for a vehicle, having a screen which has a liquid crystal cell, with the liquid crystal cell having a front and a rear cell wall and a liquid crystal substance arranged in the cell space between these cell walls, and having a heating apparatus by which the display device can be heated. In order to ensure reliable operation of the display device even at low temperatures, the heating apparatus is arranged in the cell space of the liquid crystal cell directly or indirectly on the front and/or, on the rear cell wall, and that the heating apparatus is operated with a pure AC voltage.
