Provided is a clamp that includes a rail with a track region, a first clamping jaw that is to be maintained at a first clamping location along the rail while a plurality of edge-aligned objects are clamped together. A second clamping jaw is adjustable along the track region of the rail and is to be maintained at a second clamping location along the rail on an opposite side of the plurality of edge-aligned objects from the first clamping jaw. A clamping mechanism urges a face of the second clamping jaw toward the first clamping jaw to impart a compressive force on the plurality of edge-aligned objects. A caul extends between the first and second clamping jaws and exerts a compressive force on the plurality of edge-aligned objects disposed between the caul and the rail.

Provided is a system for identifying a drug container that includes an image capture device configured to capture an optical image of a portion of a label provided to the drug container, and a non-transitory computer storage medium storing a plurality of features for each of a plurality of different drugs included in a database. A processing component is configured to receive data representing the optical image transmitted by the image capture device and to identify a candidate for the drug identity based on the plurality of features associated with the candidate.

The label content, which includes a machine-generated character, is printed on demand onto the surface of the label. Provided is a method and an apparatus for controlling an electric device. The apparatus includes a cabinet defining a recess, and a sensor disposed within said recess for sensing the presence of a foreign object in close proximity to the sensor. A veneer at least partially conceals the sensor disposed within said recess from view when observed from an ambient environment of the cabinet. A controller is responsive to a signal transmitted by the sensor indicative of the presence of the foreign object adjacent to the sensor to transmit a control signal for controlling operation of the electric device operatively connected to communicate with the controller.

Provided is an apparatus for identifying a medicinal substance. A tray receives and concurrently supports a plurality of pills formed at least in part from the medicinal substance. A computer-readable memory stores a drug database including one or more identifying features for identifying different pills formed at least in part from different medicinal substances. A recognition device is arranged to interrogate the pills on the tray and detect at least one of the identifying features from the pills. A controller receives the identifying feature(s) detected by the recognition device and determines the identity of the medicinal substance from among the different medicinal substances in the drug database based on the identifying feature(s).

Medicinal substance recognition system and method

Provided is a method of converting a medical image used in a network at a patient care facility, the network including an enterprise network storage solution optionally dedicated for storing medical images in a standardized medical imaging format that are to be retrieved over the network. The method includes us a computer system to search a portable computer-readable medium for an indication that the medical image is stored in a proprietary format on the portable computer-readable medium. The proprietary format of the medical image is identified, using the computer system, based on the indication. The medical image is converted into a format that is compliant with a standardized medical-imaging format, transmitted in the standardized medical-imaging format to be: (i) subsequently displayed by a display device without requiring prior storage of the medical image in an enterprise storage solution for medical images, and/or (ii) stored in the enterprise storage solution.

Method and apparatus for displaying non-standard-compliant images

A multi-media print includes a decoding module, a configuration memory, and a parameter determination module. The decoding module decodes print job parameters and print job data, and outputs decoded print job parameters including decoded print job media selection parameters and the decoded print job data. The configuration memory stores default configuration parameters. The parameter determination module receives the decoded print job parameters including the decoded print job media selection parameters and the decoded print job data and also receives the default configuration parameters including the default media selection parameters from the configuration memory. The parameter determination module determines the final print job media selection parameters for the print job, utilizing the decoded print job media selection parameters and the default media selection parameters. The default media selection parameters are utilized when the print job parameters and print job data are not sufficient to select the media.

A multi-media printer renders an image from a submitted print job. A decoding module receives the submitted print job and extracts a print client indicator from the submitted print job. A mapping module includes a plurality of entries, each of the plurality of entries including the print client indicator and a corresponding job settings file. A parameter determination module receives the at least one print client indicator and compares the print client indicator to the plurality of entries in the mapping module to determine if a matching entry corresponds to print client indicator. The parameter determination module determines if the corresponding job settings file in the matching entry includes at least one media selection parameter. The parameter determination module outputs at least one media selection parameter as one of the final media selection parameters if the corresponding job settings file in the matching entry is found in the mapping module and the media selection parameters are defined and operational.

A hard copy recording device for transferring images to media, the hard copy recording device including an engine, a controller, a first non-volatile memory, and a second non-volatile memory. The engine transfers images to the media in response to control signals. The controller provides the control signals to the engine based upon image data and a first non-volatile memory stores recording device system data accessible by processes executing at the controller. The second non-volatile memory stores a copy of selected portions of the recording device system data, the second non-volatile memory being detachably coupled to the hard copy recording device and capable of being coupled to a second hard copy recording device for downloading the selected portions of the recording device system data to the second hard copy recording device.

A multi-media printer includes an engine controller, a printhead controller, and a pulse activation table. The engine controller transmits a row of energy values. The printhead controller receives the row of energy values and transmits an activation signal. The activation signal is transmitted based on a comparison of an activating energy level for each pulse position in a pulse stream with the energy values in the row of energy values. Comparison logic performs the comparison and transmits an activation signal if the energy value for the row of energy values is greater than or equal to the activating energy level for the corresponding pulse positions.

Achieving laser-quality medical hardcopy output from thermal print devices

A printer capable of transferring images to different types of media is disclosed. Media sheets of different sizes and types may be dispensed through a single input path to a print station including a printhead and a platen. The printhead is adapted for transferring images to media using either a direct thermal or dye diffusion process. A capstan roller, platen roller, picker assemblies and kicker assemblies are driven by a single motor, allowing for substantial cost and space savings. Other features are directed to improving the quality of images using the direct thermal and dye diffusion processes.
