A transparent, plastic, one-piece, tamper-resistant/evident container includes a cover portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange and a base portion having an upper peripheral rim. A tamper-evident hinge joins the cover portion with the base portion. The hinge includes a frangible section. When the container is closed, the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion abuts the upper peripheral rim of the base portion and the upper peripheral rim of the base portion extends beyond an outer edge of the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion and deters opening the container.

Tamper-resistant and tamper-evident containers

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features includes a cover portion including an outwardly extending peripheral flange and a base portion an upper peripheral rim and a skirt depending downwardly therefrom. The upper peripheral rim extending substantially about the perimeter of the container and configured to substantially surround the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion to render the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The container includes a hinge joining the cover portion to the base portion. The vertical height of the hinge correlates with the height of the skirt that depends downwardly from the base portion when the height of the skirt is substantially uniform around the perimeter of the container. The hinge includes a frangible section including at least one line of weakness which, when severed, facilitates removal of the cover portion from the base portion.

Tamper-resistant and tamper evident containers

A method of thermoforming a tamper-resistant/tamper-evident container includes forming a cover portion that includes an outwardly extending peripheral flange, forming a base portion including an upper peripheral rim and a skirt depending downwardly therefrom. The upper peripheral rim is configured to communicate with at least a portion of the outwardly extending peripheral flange of the cover portion to hinder access to the container when the container is closed. Forming a hinge joining the cover portion and the base portion such that the vertical height of the hinge correlates with the height of the skirt that depends downwardly from the base portion when the height of the skirt is substantially uniform around the perimeter of the container and forming at least one line of weakness in the hinge, the line of weakness is severed to facilitate removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

Methods of manufacturing tamper-resistant and tamper evident containers

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features which includes a cover portion defining a peripheral flange, a base portion defining an upper peripheral edge, and a hinge joining the cover portion with the base portion. The upper peripheral edge includes an upwardly projecting bead extending substantially about the perimeter of the base portion that is configured to render the peripheral flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The hinge includes a frangible portion for facilitating the removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

A product storage container that includes a container body, a slide mechanism, and a frangible tear strip. The container body includes a base portion that is joined to a cover portion through a hinge section. The cover portion provides an upper flange extension that defines a first slot, the base portion provides a lower flange extension that defines a second slot, and the hinge section allows the cover portion to move between an open position and a closed position. The slide mechanism is positioned within the first and second slots and is configured to secure the cover portion in the closed position when arranged in a first position. The frangible tear strip maintains the slide mechanism in the first position, and upon severing, allows the slide mechanism to travel to a second position which enables the cover to be moved to the open position.

The upper peripheral edge includes an upwardly projecting bead extending substantially about the perimeter of the base portion that is configured to render the outwardly extending flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The hinge includes a frangible section, which upon severing, provides a projection that extends out beyond the upwardly projecting bead of the upper peripheral edge of the base portion, for facilitating removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.

A tamper-resistant container with tamper-evident features which includes a cover portion defining a outwardly extending peripheral flange, a base portion defining an upper peripheral edge, a hinge joining the outwardly extending peripheral flange with the base portion and an engagement mechanism for maintaining the peripheral flange adjacent to the upper peripheral edge when the container is closed. The upper peripheral edge includes an upwardly projecting bead extending substantially about the perimeter of the base portion that is configured to render the outwardly extending flange of the cover portion relatively inaccessible when the container is closed. The hinge includes a frangible section, which upon severing, provides a projection that extends out beyond the upwardly projecting bead of the upper peripheral edge of the base portion, for facilitating the disengagement of the engagement mechanism and removal of the cover portion from the base portion to open the container.
