It is presented a method for assisting handling of interference at a receiver device. The method is performed in a network node and comprises the steps of: determining a parameter indicating a maximum number of interfering streams for which interference suppression is likely to be successful at the receiver device; determining that a number of potentially interfering streams at the receiver device exceeds the maximum number of interfering streams indicated by the parameter; and scheduling transmissions to avoid that the number of concurrent interfering streams at the receiver device exceeds the maximum number of interfering streams indicated by the parameter. A corresponding network node is also presented.

Method and network node for assisting handling of interference at a receiver device

A method and network node of a first cellular network, for enabling mitigation of interference in the first cellular network caused by radio communication in a second cellular network. The network node obtains a total interference in a first cell of the first cellular network, and estimates a first interference contribution in the first cell caused by radio communication in the first cellular network. The network node then determines a second interference contribution in the first cell caused by radio communication in the second cellular network based on the estimated first interference contribution and the obtained total interference. The network node also utilizes the determined second interference contribution to counteract the interference in the first cell caused by the radio communication in the second cellular network. Thereby, it is possible to counteract the interference in the first cell when the second interference contribution fulfills a threshold condition such that actions and measures for counteracting the inter-system interference can be initiated only when needed or when it is deemed effective for improving performance in the cell.

Method and network node for mitigation of interference

The present invention relates to uplink transmissions and scheduling of resources for uplink transmissions in connection with packet switched communication. A radio communication network schedules time slots for transmission of bursts of a first radio block on at least two different uplink packet data channels and transmits an Uplink State Flag, associated with a mobile station for which the first radio block was scheduled, on a first downlink packet data channel representing a first subperiod within a basic uplink period. The mobile station receives the Uplink State Flag, identifies the scheduled resources for transmission of the first radio block wherein the timing of the first subperiod is derived utilizing the fact that the Uplink State Flag was received on the first downlink packet data channel and transmits the first radio block utilizing the identified resources.

Method and a device for dynamic frequency use in a cellular network

According to the teachings presented herein, dynamic mapping is used to determine which multi-carrier power amplifiers (MC-PAs) provide the required transmit power for individual ones of the transmitters in a base station. With dynamic mapping, the required transmit power of any one or more of the transmitters can be distributed to more than one MCPA, providing for more efficient 'packing' of required transmit powers into the available transmit powers of the MCPAs, and/or providing for power mapping based on any one or more mapping criterion, As a non-limiting advantage, the dynamic mapping presented herein reduces the number of MCPAs needed to support a given number of transmitters.

The present invention presents a method for controlling output power and reducing interference in a radio communications network wherein data transmitted over a radio interface is coded and transmitted in radio blocks. The data passes a buffer of a node before transmission. The method is characterized by a step of determining a recommended Modulation and Coding Scheme level, MCS level, based on at least one radio quality measurement. A further characterizing step is analyzing of buffer characteristics and/or radio block usage of transmission radio blocks to determine if there is a preferred MCS level compared to the recommended MCS level. The preferred MCS level is typically a more robust MCS level. The recommended MCS, level if so determined, is decreased to the preferred MCS level, and in relation to decreasing the MCS level decreasing the output power according to a predefined down regulation scheme. The interference level is reduced in the network depending on an application type.

Method for controlling output power in a radio communications network

The invention relates to a signaling method for GSM/GPRS communication systems. The status of a core interface between two core subnetworks is measured in the core network (S), preferably through a keep-alive mechanism (S). A status indication message is then sent to the radio network (S). In this way, the BSS becomes aware of possible interface problems and failures, and can take appropriate actions, such as changing the network operating settings related to the NOM and/or allocated channel types (S). The invention enables secure operation of NOM-I systems with P-channels irrespective of the Gs interface status.
