Photographic silver halide material

The production of tabular silver bromide-iodide emulsions and silver bromide-chloride-iodide emulsions with an aspect ratio,, an iodide content from 1 to 40 mol % and a chloride content from 0 to 20 mol %, by the process steps of (a) silver halide nucleus precipitation, and (b) at least one further precipitation of silver halide, wherein rein at least one aromatic five- or six-membered, heterocyclic compound, which is free from&mdash;SH&mdash;,&mdash;SSO,H&mdash; and&mdash;SSO,R groups, is added in an amount from 10,to 10,mol/mol silver during nucleus precipitation or during the precipitation of an inner zone of the silver halide grain which is different from the nucleus precipitate, results in an improved speed/grain size ratio and in an increased stability of a photographic material which contains an emulsion produced in this manner.

A color photographic material, the cyan coupler of which is of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.11 means an alkyl, aryl, acylamino, alkylcarbamoyl, arylcarbamoyl or a heterocyclic group, R.sub.12 means a group having electron-attracting characteristics, R.sub.13 means a group having electron-attracting characteristics, R.sub.14 means an alkyl or aryl group, R.sub.15 means a divalent linking member having 2 to 4 linking atoms, X means .dbd.O or .dbd.N--SO.sub.2 R.sub.21 and Y means a group eliminable by hydrolytic or intramolecular (nucleophilic) attack, is distinguished by improved processing stability.

Color photographic recording material

The present invention relates to a new compound of formula (I) with the proviso that Y represents N, and also relates to a colour photographic silver halide material comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide layer with which according to the invention a compound of formula (I) is associated, and also relates to a photographic colour development process in which couplers of formula (I) are reacted with colour developers of the phenylenediamine and/or diaminotoluene type to form coupling products which exhibit a strong absorption, particularly in the infrared region. The present invention further relates to the use of compounds of formula (I) as cyan and/or infrared couplers in colour photographic silver halide materials.

Hardeners for photographic materials, the binders of which substantially consist of gelatine, wherein the hardeners are carbamoylpyridinium salts, the amine components of which are derived from secondary amines, which amines are converted into photographically inert products by an intramolecular cyclisation reaction, improve photographic properties, even when the material is stored under extreme conditions.

The light-fastness of an inkjet recording material having a support and an image-receiving layer containing a binder is improved if the image-receiving layer contains a water soluble inorganic thiosulphate, trithionate or tetrathionate or an organic thiosulphate in a quantity of 2 to 200 wt. %, relative to the quantity of binder in the image-receiving layer.

A color photographic recording material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer unit containing color coupler, which unit comprises at least two adjacent silver halide emulsion partial layers of the spectral sensitivity concerned, one of which is more sensitive and one less sensitive, contains in a reactive association with at least one more sensitive silver halide emulsion partial layer having a comparatively low color coupler content relative to the silver halide content, a compound (or a precursor compound thereof), which is capable under chromogenic development conditions of forming a substantially colorless, diffusible coupling product with the color developer oxidation product, which coupling product is capable under chromogenic development conditions in the presence of an oxidising agent of forming a dye with a color coupler, with transfer of the residue originating from the color developer. On chromogenic development, color images having improved grain are obtained.

An inkjet ink results in improved color-fastness if the ink contains a water-soluble inorganic thiosulphate, trithionate or tetrathionate or an organic thiosulphate, in an amount of 0.2 to 8% by weight with respect to the ink base.

A spectrally sensitised photographic silver halide emulsion which is super-sensitised with an aromatic complex having a central transition metal atom which is present in a valence state which is not the highest possible for the metal concerned and which complex contains at least one non-aromatic complex ligand, is distinguished by increased sensitivity.
